Shogun presents Amplify and 550 on Armada Music
US-based producer Shogun makes the world go for an extra round. Fuelled with warm beats, blue-sky melodies and energy, the up and coming talent provides us with ‘Amplify’ and ’550′.
Mister ‘Skyfire’ has landed another magical duo. Growing into one of EDM’s most promising names, ever since bursting onto the scene with ‘Nadia’, ‘Save Me’ and ‘Imprisoned’, have made the expectations rise high.
But Andrew Chen climbs on top, presenting his new duo ‘Amplify’ and ’550′. ‘Amplify’ is a solid and powerful track, driven by melody and hitting in exactly where it needs to. ’550′ is an ode to the A State of Trance 550 celebration, and nearly made it as the winner of the anthem competition.

Shogun set to release four new tracks, including collaborations with Dash Berlin and Emma Hewitt
American DJ and producer Shogun is set to unleash four new tracks this week, including two original productions, a collaboration with Dash Berlin and a remix for songstress Emma Hewitt. Forever slaving away in the studio, Shogun has become one of the top artists in trance music today with fans and DJs worldwide eagerly devouring his original tracks and slamming remixes.
On ‘Callisto,’ Shogun pairs up with Dash Berlin for a melodic, progressive instrumental reminiscent of a summer night. ‘Callisto’ is a stand-out track off of Dash Berlin’s new album, #musicislife, and will be released April 27th on Armada. Pre-order on iTunes
Then there’s Emma Hewitt’s ‘Miss You Paradise’ (Shogun Remix), which won Future Favorite on A State of Trance 556 and will be released on April 30. With Emma’s throaty vocals and a driving bassline, Shogun’s remix of ‘Miss You Paradise’ gives fans the uplifting trancer they’ve been waiting for.
Also releasing on April 30th is a double EP of Shogun’s original tracks ‘Amplify’ and ’550.’ A State of Trance fans will remember that ’550′ was one of the five tracks in the running to become the official ASOT 550 theme song and was runner-up to W&W’s ‘Invasion.’ ‘Amplify’ is a heavier banger filled with techy synths that commands the dance floor while ’550′ takes the beloved elements of ‘Skyfire’ and twists them into an electrifying club anthem. Our Armada DJ’s are still buzzing from the amazing Russian mini-tour they had in February. The Russians sure know how to party! After editions in Ekaterinburgh, Moscow, Kazan and Ufa, Armada Music now makes another grand return, with an Armada Night in St. Petersburg!
On March 9th, the city of incredibly rich culture, science and industry will host a night to never forget. Canadian DJ Max Graham and US based producer Shogun, who were part of the previous Armada Nights in Russia, will travel to St. Petersburg for some more club action! Flying in from Canada as well, is no one less than Arnej! He gets company from our very own Sied van Riel, who might just debut some of the secret jewels of his upcoming artist album…

Shogun up for Best Trance Track with Skyfire at IDMA 2012
US-based DJ and producer Andrew Chen aka Shogun has received his first nomination at the International Dance Music Awards for the summer anthem that took the dance floor by storm, ‘Skyfire.’ Up for Best Trance Track, ‘Skyfire’ will compete against heavy hitters such as Armin van Buuren feat. Nadia Ali ‘Feels So Good,’ Above & Beyond’s ‘Sun and Moon,’ Tiesto’s ‘Maximal Crazy,’ and others. The full category can be found on IDMA’s voting ballot and winners will be announced during the Winter Music Conference on March 22, 2012 in Miami, FL.
Since it’s release, ‘Skyfire’ has generated over half a million views on YouTube and tells a story about the dark side of humanity and how the skies are full of fire in times of war. A very personal track, ‘Skyfire’ has resonated with people of all backgrounds, all around the world, and numerous fans have written to Shogun to say that the song helped them get through difficult times.
“I wanted people who were struggling with their own issues–anything from living in a war zone or poverty, or just day-to-day struggles that we all face–to know that even when times are hard, you can still find hope and beauty in darkness,” says Andrew. Read more

But when it comes to all EMI (Electronic Music Industry) heads supporting a very good producer this is already heading to a different scale, a crucial ingredient to become one exception amongst other producers. Being signed with Armada, Armin van Buuren’s label, this is yet another statement of Shogun’s quality sound. This week, Armin had another big announcement to make on the A State of Trance show. He revealed the 5 contestants who, with their track, are in the running of becoming the official A State of Trance 550 anthem. Next to tunes by Shogun, W&W, Eco and Sebastian Brandt, there’s also the winner of the wildcard, Alpha Duo, that might just provide this global happening its official theme!

Next to the Anthem Contest, the ‘A State of Trance 550 World Tour’ is in full effect.
