‘In Search of Sunrise’ hits its big 10th edition this year and following Tiësto’s handing-over-of-the-reigns, Richard Durand is now lining up his third outing. With ’10′ ringing in our ears, we sensed something special might be on the cards, so we put a call in to R.D. to get the inside track on his plans. As it turned out, we got a whole lot more of it than we bargained for… Richard spills all: “as one of the most beloved trance mix-comp series of all time, taking on ‘In Search of Sunrise’ was a huge responsibility for me. Moreover though it’s been enormously enjoyable and rewarding; one of the best things to happen in my career. I really wanted to commemorate its 10th release in a way that would pay proper dues to its history. It’s an incredible feeling being the series’ compiler/mixer – an experience I’d like each and every person out there to have. That’s never going to be possible of course, but when Black Hole suggested an ISOS all-time classics disc, as part of the 10th release, I did spot a way in which I could make it happen for at least one other DJ”.
What Richard’s come up with is nothing short of spectacular, and even that might be underselling it! He is giving one ISOS-loving über-spinner the opportunity to mix… an In Search of Sunrise disc! This ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is the stuff of ultimate wish fulfilment, daydreams-come-true, passports to future possibilities + more! One person out there will get to follow where only Tiësto and Richard have stepped before!

Gather together your favourite tracks from ISOS’ 1- 9 (that gives you close to 200 weapons to choose from) and work them into your perfect, immaculate In Search Of Sunrise. Silk Music photo contest
Silk Music Photo Contest
We, at Silk Music, have always felt that the cover art of a release is an integral part of its success: it sets the tone for the release with respect to the imagery and mood that the music evokes in the listener. One of our co-owners, Mike Alexeev, has directed the selection and design of our covers since the label’s inception, a role that we consider to be as important as general A&R.
From April 2-8, we will be hosting our first ever Silk Music Photography Contest, the three winners of which will receive the following prizes:
1) Two winning photographs will be used as the cover art of two future Silk Digital singles by Shingo Nakamura: “Hakodate” and “Khafre”. His or her name will also be officially acknowledged in the promo for the release, as well as professional contacts and relevant music pages. A third winner’s photo will also be used for a future Silk release [TBA].
2) The winners will be able to request a list of 25 back catalogue Silk tracks from any of our five divisions (Silk Royal, Silk Digital, Silk Textures, Silk Sofa, and Arrival Recordings). We will then send each winner a “personalized” zip file of these songs.
3) Each winner will receive a free digital copy of both mixes of Jacob Henry & Tom Fall’s “Silk Royal Showcase 02″ (release date: April 10). Read more

Fledgling Indian outfit the Progressive Brothers have become the first artists to become co-producers on the extraordinary boundary breaking ‘Richard Durand Vs. The World’ album project. Created from the track stems Richard placed online back in November, their track ‘Veda’ won out in the fiercely contested Australia/Asia quarter of the competition. With DJ Mag saying: “Durand excels with the first of his ‘Vs. The World’ EPs”, his solo track for the EP ‘Chopstick’ is a seismic club-shocker that you’ll be hearing plenty of in his sets over the coming month! Mixmag meanwhile described the EP’s tyDi collab, entitled ‘Loose Unit’ as “working in some great robust riffs and warping, avant-garde piano lines”.
