Sander van Doorn presents Purple Haze - Hymn 2.0
Remember 2005, when Sander van Doorn produced "Adrenaline / Push Off Me" under alias Purple Haze ? One alias out of so many others, such as Filterfunk, Larsson, Purple Haze, Sam Sharp, Sandler, it was a tune to remember. It was a sparse, bass-heavy track with a few keys and synths, and perfectly showcased Purple Haze skills as a budding producer. It took another year to come back with another stormer, called "Eden / Rush" but that was a moment for him to find his own moment of clarity, installing himself as a new upcoming face within the IDM (International Dance Music) spectrum. Speaking about progress, tunes as mentioned earlier, one after another, like the ones he supplied before, 2009 makes the debut of "Bliksem" and his globally renowned style is not absent at all.

Being known such as "Best New Producer" at the Trance Awards and also "Best Breakthrough DJ" in the International Dance Music Awards at the Miami Winter Music Conference in 2008, his productions are easily notable and also being heavily supported by major EDM heads out there.

This time, we are going to focus more on his latest stuff, therefore, 2010 brought Purple Haze into his new own rediscovery. "Hymn 2.0" is being released on his own label, so will literally put his own stamp on it 101%. When it comes to this track in particular, Sander utilizes the latest achievements he gathered so far in terms of productions he easily knows how to utilize the slow down tempo in combination with Vocal chorus Trance-a-like sound to give you the typical "2.0" look and feel of Trance and Melodica of late 90's, becoming a highly recommended Melo-Trance tune, which is a highly preferred way of creating and managing a track nowadays. A dynamic track shouldn't be dynamic just behind the curtains, it should interact with the listener and give them the feeling that the producer is in control of the whole journey, and that they can specify exactly what the listener would like to listen to, building up a track from scratch to it's phase where dancers needs that momentum, the "momento de respiro", the breathing spell, something that makes this track unique in its own way.

The current shift within the EDM landscape finds listeners rewarding artists for experimentation. You don't have to look any further than that, since Sander's track and his final "2.0's decision" seems representative of that shift. Sander, an artist that's flexible and reliable "by design", adapting himself with the times and the necessity of something new and even during his musical changes, he is pushing himself to experiment even further. After all, it's not late '90s any more.
