Markus Schulz, one of the world's ten biggest DJs and America’s highest ranked club DJ has picked up five nominations in the 2010 International Dance Music Awards.
Having already scooped wins for Best American DJ and Best Full Length DJ Mix in previous years, Markus is again back in the running for those categories. Following the announcement of the fan-voted nominations yesterday, he has also been shortlisted for Best Global DJ, Best Radio Show Mix DJ (for his renowned Global DJ Broadcast show) & Best Producer.
In 2009 Markus released World Tour: The Best of Global DJ Broadcast 2009… The innovative mix release used the original GDJB World Tour recordings from his live sets - with all the local shouts cheers and crowd noise locked in - to create an experience where the listener moves from one club and country to another. In receiving a nomination for the mix Markus said:
"amongst the other nominations this year, I’m extremely happy to receive one for Best of World Tour 2009. Bringing those live recordings together to create the mix was the culmination of some particularly thrilling nights and some great GDJB World Tour shows in 2009".
In 2009 Markus also released the Beatport chart-topping tracks "Do You Dream" & "The New World" and famously brought back his deeper tech/elec/deep house project Dakota - releasing the critically-acclaimed ‘Thoughts Become Things’ long-player.
The winners of the 2010 WMC’s International Dance Music Awards will be announced at this years Winter Music Conference, which takes place between the 23rd and 27th of March.
Markus Schulz Biography (Abridged): Over the last 10 years Markus Schulz has fused the individual musical identities of progressive house & trance into his own creative, inimitable hybrid sound. Through the unique alignment of his headline DJ sets, Coldharbour label output and highly prominent Global DJ Broadcast show, he orchestrated a sea change revolution in the US trance scene - one that has gone on to have its sound influence sweep to the farthest reaches of the globe. This success has been singularly reflected in weekly headliner sets in front of many tens of thousands, a GDJB radio show listenership up in the tens of millions & one Beatport chart-topping release after another. Following several highly ranked positions in 2008 Schulz punched his way into the highest reaches of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 chart, landing at no.8. In repeating the exact same achievement in 2009, he now stands, quite unequivocally, as America’s no.1 club DJ and one of the 10 biggest spinners in the world.
