1. You hail from Russian Federation - Nizhniy Novgorod to be exact - a place most dancers and clubbers frankly look carefully when it comes to EDM. With such a huge scene and artists such as Bobina, Vadim Zhukov, Tenthu, Vadim Soloviev, Paul Vinitski, just to name a few. How do You find Russian EDM spectrum from Your own point of view ?
Moonbeam: In Russia there are a lot of talented musicians which aren't so popular around the world but they aren't less talented. More and more Russian electronic musicians are being discovered in Europe and America during the last few years. It shows the development of Russian EDM in the world.
2. At what point did You decide an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) career was something You wanted to pursue in life ?
Moonbeam: It was in 1997. Unfortunately at that time in Russia it was very little material about electronic music and of course, the Internet wasn't extended in Russia yet. Nevertheless we listened to the first radio show in Russia about electronic music - "Garage" on Europe Plus and simply fell in love with this music. We began working in local clubs as Djs and got a good experience. The first experience in writing music we had in 1999. At that time we created the project "Ekzaltatsija".
3. In terms of productions, what stands out about Moonbeam ?
Moonbeam: Our tracks are out of stylistic frames. We don't want stop on something one. We like to take some experiments and do tracks on a connection line of different styles.
4. You have just released Your anticipated release of brand new album called "Around The World". How that contributes on Your achievements, with You 2 being amongst the biggest music exponents in the history of the Russian dance music ?
Moonbeam: We are the first musicians from Russia, which released an album on such respect label as Black Hole. Certainly we consider this event as an achievement for ourselves. The number of fans on our personal page on one of Russian social networks has extremely increased at once after exiting of our album. Now we had 20,000 fans from Russia and The Ukraine only. Black Hole label is very popular in Russia, thanks to it our popularity grew there as well.
5. It's clear when listening to Your album that Your productions range from deep Minimal, refined Progressive, delicate Trance to big room atmospheric Techno, sometimes even complimented with Balearic influences. So, it's kinda forbidden to limit Your style in a musical sense. Is that correct ?
Moonbeam: We collected together all sounding ranges of Moonbeam in our album. On the whole Progressive sounding dominates in the album. We wouldn't say this kinda forbidden to limit our style in a musical sense. We would like our album to be interesting to different listeners of any music styles EDM. Actually, we are not limited to any one style and try to listen to different music and not only electronic. For this reason we invited to participation of different vocalists from others styles such as Daniel Mimra ? Ali.bi – rock musicians, moreover each of them has own group.
6. If it would be a Trance album only, dancers and clubbers would confuse themselves being called "Trance Around the World", right ?
Moonbeam: Probably, but we hardly made a Trance album only.
7. Name a few production influences that we might not expect.
Moonbeam: We find inspiration in world around. Traveling also gives many fresh emotions: different countries, different cultures. It helps writing new music. When we return from trips, we would like to go to studio at once and to write down a new track.
8. How long have You been working on this album thou ?
Moonbeam: A lot of tracks were thought up during our international tours in different countries. "Elephant - Ride" was written down in India, "Evelyn" was begun in the States, Orlando, and in Tokyo we wrote down "The Lilt". Thus there is the name of album.
9. The second track of the album "Song For A Girl", who's that You were thinking of, if I may ask ? What's the reason behind the name ?
Moonbeam: The name "Song for Girl" was thought up by our vocalist Blackfeel Wite. He wrote the song text. The first song's name was "Love Song". Soon we will release a clip to this song and we hope everyone will find his own association in the song's name.
10. You are currently being signed to multiple award winning company Black Hole Recordings. Are there any forthcoming projects in the pipe line with this venture ?
Moonbeam: Several new releases are being planned now. And the most important thing now is preparation of own compilation where we are going to reflect our music preferences. Wait this autumn.
11. With the release of this album, the future looks bright for You two. Are there a string of new releases and remixes lined up for release ?
Moonbeam: At the beginning of July a new techno EP on Traum will be appeared, in the mid of July - remix on Avis Vox on Black Hole. In August - "Song for a Girl" on Black Hole. At the beginning of September - release on Proton Music. At the end of September a new single on High Contrast label. In autumn we are going to release our own compilation.
12. What is it about Avis Vox that drew You to work with her on two tracks from the album, such as "Elephant Ride" and "The Lift" ?
Moonbeam: We have been working with Avis Vox for several years and are planning to cooperate with her. Almost all tracks written with her were signed with Black Hole and High Contrast. We liked working with her very much and her voice is perfect. The first track was written down with her in 2007, it was "7 Seconds" released on Black Hole Recordings and sounded in Clublife Tiesto at once so it defined our further close work with her. Now she began solo career in IDM direction.
13. When it comes to gigs, is there yet something scheduled in order to support the album ?
Moonbeam: Most gigs in order to support the album are in Russia and in The Ukraine. Also we had gigs in France, Moldova and Belarus.
14. Being brothers, what is the chemistry in the studio ? How's the work related ? Who's doing the beat and who's doing the melodic line ?
Moonbeam: As a rule we work in studio together. Pavel is responsible for a technical part, he watches for technical novelties. Vitaly is mostly responsible for a creative part of the project. But when we have a great interest in the process, any clear borders is erased.
15. Have You got a message to the ones reading this interview, especially the TranceSound.net community ?
Moonbeam: Listen more and more good and different music. Love each other and have a healthy life style.
