Interview with Kyau & Albert    ( 22nd of September 23:10 GMT UTC )

Interview with Kyau & Albert
    1. It's been a long while ever since You had the very first interview with us, 3 years to be more precisely. So what have You been doing all this time ? Share a small summary of most important things.

Ralph: We did so many things, for example our album "Best Of 2002-2009" with all our biggest tunes.

Steven: Yeah, and beside touring most of the time, we released a couple of singles, such as "I Love You", "Hide & Seek", "Once In A Life", "Painkillers", "Neo Love" and also did a bunch of remixes, like Bent's "As You Fall", Cressida's "6am" and recently Faithless feat. Dido's "Feeling Good".

    2. Your next album is due out when ? What is/will be the next single and/or video ? And, are there any current plans to tour behind it ?

Ralph: Right now we are working on our next single. There's no album planned at the moment, but we have a lot of demos lying around, which will be getting released in the future.

Steven: We are constantly playing as DJs all over the year, only blocked the Christmas days for this year. So if we are playing near you, try to catch us live!

    3. Let's speak about this new "Anphonic" single featured on Anjunabeats Vol 8 compilation - How did this unique collaboration even come to fruition ?

Steven: When we played at Trance Around The World 300 party in Moscow, Above & Beyond asked us, if we are keen to do a collaboration with them for the Volume 8 compilation. We said yes and worked with them via the internet.

Ralph: This was a really cool experience. The whole production took around three months or so.

    4. Thinking about new producers and people that stood up from the crowd, are there any special cameos/guest appearances that You all would like to shout out at this point in time ?

Steven: Honestly, there are so many great new faces.

    5. 24th of September at the Ministry of Sound, London based fans will be able to see you. Is there anything to say about this event. Any words prior that ?

Ralph: We love to play for The Gallery at Ministry of Sound. I am really looking forward to perform with Super8 & Tab and also Stoneface & Terminal again. It is going to be great fun!

Steven: Also a few of our German hardcore fans from Berlin will be there, which are known to get crazy.

    6. Tell me more about Your monthly appearance on Euphonic Sessions. How do You gather all those amazing tracks ?

Steven: We are super happy about the growing number of listeners every month.

Ralph: People always ask why we don't do Euphonic Sessions with Kyau & Albert as a weekly show. The great thing about a 2-hour show once a month is, that we can really pick out the massive tracks we like and not needing to put in fillers to a show. I think this is exactly the philosophy we follow with our releases too. Not too much, but always trying to be great.

    7. According to Your all time playlists, I reckon You two, are really good in terms of A&R, don't You think ?

Ralph: It's not easy to know how successful a track will be. We have been running Euphonic Records since 1997 and there were a few tracks I thought were going to be huge but they were not.

    8. As songwriters, do You guys usually write individually or collectively ?

Steven: Mostly individually, but then merge our ideas together. We have known each for 15 years now so we are a very good team! We always fight for our ideas, but this is good for the result.

    9. One of Your latest tracks "Painkillers". I need an inside story. How did You came up with this name for the track ?

Ralph: Well, in the end we had two different names to call the track from the lyrics we have used. One option was "Intensified" and the other one was "Painkillers". We decided to call the track "Painkillers", because this name is catchier for us.

    10. Still speaking about Your productions, the remix for Faithless ft Dido's "Feelin Good" got a huge support. How did You come up with a remix for it ?

Steven: Sister Bliss from Faithless liked our remix for Bent. So we got the offer to remix "Feelin Good", which was a big honour for us.

    11. I understand that currently there is a huge Euphonic label approach in the works, stuff like remixing almost all their artists' new tracks. Is that correct ?

Ralph: We just released "Painkillers" remixes, including Stoneface & Terminal and Fabian Schumann mixes.

Steven: The next release on Euphonic will be a new single by Cressida, which we will possibly drop at the Ministry of Sound on 24th of September. Also Ronski Speed and Stoneface & Terminal are working on new singles.

    12. Your remix for Super8 & Tab's "Empire" is something to shout about. What can You reveal about it ?

Ralph: Super8 & Tab have been good friends of ours for many years and it was great fun for us to do this remix, and it's a nice alternative to the original version.

Steven: Their debut album "Empire" is a masterpiece.

    13. Do You guys have any last words to those that are reading this interview, especially the TranceSound.net community ?

Ralph: People should check out our new designed homepage Kyau & Albert - Home – they will also find links to our Facebook, Twitter and so on there, or they can just listen to the latest editions of Euphonic Sessions in the player and see the tracklists too.
