Interview with Jason Carr    ( 29th of August 18:30 GMT UTC )

Interview with Jason Carr
With the success of his own radio show, Euphoric Sound Sessions, and his overall crowd charm, Jason Carr is a rare example of that even mixing DJs can still thrive among the top performers. Orlando's most energetic DJ tore the house down Wednesday August 4th in St. Petersburg, Florida during his biggest show to date: opener to Sander van Doorn. Many friends and family were in full attendance to show their support which in return gave Jason the title of house favorite for the evening. Even Sander's own manager thought Jason possessed a little too much energy and was asked to "tone it down". However Jason respectively declined yet transitioned well into the headliner's set.

    1. Since you have managed to blow away your friends, family, and even the headliner, Sander van Doorn, at your most recent major performance in St. Petersburg, Florida, could you describe your reaction to the atmosphere and the overall night in general?

Jason Carr: I was blown away. That was my biggest gig to date. The crowd was showing so much love that I had to play some killer music for them to dance to.

    2. Would you mind explaining how you got the invitation to open for the number ten DJ in the world?

Jason Carr: It was a random text from an old promoter friend of mine. I was eating with my dad and sister when I got the text and my jaw dropped haha.

    3. Obviously this is a confidence booster, what is next in the line of works of DJ J13?

Jason Carr: More radio shows, podcasts and live shows so keep you ears open.

    4. How did you get your DJ alias and what is your driving method once you are behind the decks?

Jason Carr: The DJ name came from a "smokey" reference haha. My method behind the decks is to make people forget about all the stress of life and experience euphoria.

    5. In relation to this performance, what has been your biggest set to date?

Jason Carr: One of my first DJ gigs ever at one of the coolest clubs in Ybor City, the Amphitheater. The vibe there was amazing.

    6. Your radio show, "Euphoric Sound Sessions", is known by many people nation wide. How did this come about and which types of styles represent your show most?

Jason Carr: I started the show over 5 years ago to a great reaction. My listeners are very supportive and I really appreciate that. Musically on the show you will usually hear trance, progressive and vocal tunes but I do venture into the house music too such as tech and electro.

    7. Nowadays it is pretty given that one must become a packaged DJ to climb the ladder. Your transitions are among the world-class. It is nice to see someone, like yourself, exceed well just in mixing alone. Do you plan on taking your skills to a higher level such as productions?

Jason Carr: If I had the time I really would. Being a chef right now is taking up a lot of that time.

    8. Personally where do you see the world of EDM heading?

Jason Carr: It has grown so much over the years thanks to the internet and radio shows on sirius and XM radio. The festivals are getting larger as is the audience. EDM is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

    9. As a whole what does music mean to you and what inspired you to become a DJ?

Jason Carr: Music is life to me. It is in my blood and goes through my head most of the day. DJ inspiration came from passion. I taught myself when I bought my first set of Technics 1200's 10 years ago and just kept researching, watching tutorials and big name DJ's. The learning still continues to this day.

    10. Outside of the music realm could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Jason Carr: I have a culinary degree and work in the hotel/restaurant business. The beach is one of my favorite places to be in the world.

    11. Is there anything that you would like to add to your listeners and readers here at TranceSound?

Jason Carr: Thanks you again for all the continuing support. It means a lot and is what drives me. See you on the dance floor =>)
