1. Well, welcome back, You were definitely missed, since the interview You had with us before, back in 2007. So, what all have You been doing during this lengthy hiatus ?
Ferry Corsten: Let's see. I released my third artist album "Twice In A Blue Moon" in 2008, "The Remixed" versions of the album in 2009 and now in 2010 I've released the first part of my new mix compilation series called "Once Upon A Night". But most important of all, I became a father.
2. When it comes to the actual album title, "Once Upon A Night", although pretty self-explanatory, still why did You settle on naming it this ?
Ferry Corsten: Most fairytales begin with "Once Upon A Time" and that's why we decided to use "Once Upon A Night". The compilation is part of whole concept with an evening-filling visual show with me so that's why "Once Upon A Night"
3. Who all did You enlist in regards to the record's production ?
Ferry Corsten: If you mean the artist and producers on the album, we've had a lot of tracks that were sent to us as a demo. We've made a selection of tracks that had the "Once Upon A Night"- feeling. Some producers made a track especially for the album.
4. In terms of tracklisting, I can easily spot a lot of Enhanced Recordings artists in there. Is there a reason for that ?
Ferry Corsten: This has nothing to do with Enhanced Recordings. I think that we were the first label who signed most of the artists at first. Later on they went releasing on other labels, like Enhanced. So there's no reason.
5. With that being said, describe for me Your overall musical album vibe. Tell me more about the sound/style You have approached please.
Ferry Corsten: Nowadays I play more than Trance. I am still seen as a Trance DJ but slightly I get to experiment with other kinds of music like Progressive House. This can also be heard on the album. The compilation consists of two CDs. One more filled with beautiful Progressive House tracks and later on to Trance. The Second CD is more powerful. Combined, it is a 2,5 hours during set of mine.
6. You released "Once Upon A Night" on Ultra imprint. What are Your future goals and plans for this venture ?
Ferry Corsten: Ultra released it in the USA but I think you mean I released it on PREMIER which is a new joint venture between my label Flashover Recordings and Black Hole Recordings. We'll release a second part of "Once Upon A Night" on PREMIER later this year and for our labels this label is the crossover label. So everything we want to bring to the radio stations, we'll release on PREMIER more likely.
7. Aside from music related stuff, is there anything else that You would like to get involved in ?
Ferry Corsten: I am crazy about snow boarding and Asian food so maybe I'll open a sushi bar in the Alps someday, hahaha
8. What can You divulge or reveal about any upcoming plans in relation to music ?
Ferry Corsten: I can tell you that a the follow up of "Once Upon A Night" will be released in September / October and I am already busy with my new artist album which will be released somewhere in 2011.
9. Your long overdue album/collection, "Once Upon A Night", is available now! Is there a single and/or video in the works ?
Ferry Corsten: Yes there is actually. As we speak we're promoting the first single of the album which is also the first track on the album. It's a beautiful track by Yuri Kane and it's called "Right Back". The video is being made now. We'll also be releasing more tracks of "Once Upon A Night" with additional remixes too.
10. Are there any current plans to tour behind it ?
Ferry Corsten: I already started the show concept called "Once Upon A Night: The Experience". The kick off was in Miami, during the Winter Music Conference and will have show dates in major cities around the world. It's a great visual spectacle and we have some mind blowing visuals for this tour I can tell you. I'm accompanied by two DJs how will take the audience on a 6 hours musical journey.
11. Is there anything else that I may have left out or forgot to ask You about ?
Ferry Corsten: Don't think so I think you've covered it all :)
12. Thanks for taking Your time out with me today, I wish You good luck with everything, and continued success to your future projects !
Ferry Corsten: Thanks for the interview, it's been a pleasure and don't forget to check my official website.
