1. Long time no speak mate, how's everything lately ? You have been totally missed ever since our first interview in 2007.
Bobina: Yes true - everything's great! I actually just got back from St. Petersburg with a little headache. It's always fun to party there with friends!!!
2. Your brand new record "Angel of the North" along Sabrina Altan, signifies Your importance into Russian EDM. I just wonder, what the northern part should be ? Siberia ?
Bobina: Yeah, I would like to thank Sabrina for an amazing vocal performance in the record. Siberia never was the northern part of Russia. The most northern Russia i ever been its Murmansk.
3. Lately a lot of artists released a CD of their weekly show, Matt Darey - Nocturnal, Lange - Intercity and now You - Russia Goes Clubbing. What are You hoping to accomplish ?
Bobina: Actually "Russia Goes Clubbing" is a yearly CD I release since 2005. This time it's really really trancey in my personal opinion. I really hope people will enjoy the CD to listen in the car. I always try to listen the compilations in the car, don't know why. It has few exclusive tracks from Russia and also some tunes which I play often in clubs at the moment.
4. Your anticipated album showcase, is due out, when exactly ? Are there any current plans to tour behind it ?
Bobina: "Russia Goes Clubbing" CD will be in stores at the end of May. I think I won't do any tour cause we usually do tours for an artist album, not CD compilations.
5. Besides working on Vocal Trance records, I know over the course of the last couple of years there have been major interest into Progressive style. Are there still plans any for some new kind of style approach this year ?
Bobina: At the moment I am very busy with my artist album for 2011. Actually I can say that, still it's going to be electronic music. I never thought Bobina was/is Trance or Progressive, that's why it's always hard for me to speak about the styles.
6. Take me all the way back, how did it first begin for Bobina being listed on Stark Profiles PR roster ? When did it all happen' ?
Bobina: I know Tim Stark for many years already since I did a remix of Rapid Eye in 2005 if I'm not mistaken. And we started to work with Stark Profiles PR around 2-3 years ago. I really like his style of writing to be honest.
7. "Invisible Touch" being remixed by Ferry Corsten. Fair enough, it is a "must have" track for all TranceSounders around the world, but is there a new form of history in the making with the Dutch Superstar ?
Bobina: I was a big fan of Ferry's music when I started to listen to trance. Actually his remix of any my track was kinda a small dream for me and I'm really happy that it happened. He really made the record more interesting, in terms of sound, therefore in my opinion as before, I always thought that "Invisible Touch" is actually the worst Bobina's tune ever! LOL
8. In terms of gigs, I have seen that You got less club appearance in Russia but more around the world. Have You changed Your agent lately ?
Bobina: Yes I am now working with Ben from PFA and I am really happy about it. He's a cool guy, we understand each other plus have a lot of similar interests. It's always nice to speak to him, at least I'm practicing my English!!!
9. I know it's kinda early to ask, but do You have a special tracklist/playlist for Your future event in London, Ministry of Sound at the very beginning of July this year ?
Bobina: Every gig I am doing, I decide playlist only during the set! The maximum I 'plan' it's a first tune of my set and do a special intros in the plane or at home. So it's really early to speak about MoS gig, therefore, I'm really exited but I even don't know which tunes will I play in my next gig which is in a few days!
10. What's Your Top5 to date ?
1. Ilya Soloviev - Echo
2. Faithless - Not Going Home (Armin van Buuren remix)
3. Yuri Kane - Right Back
4. Adam Nickey pres. Blue 8 - Eleventh Street
5. Three 6 Mafia feat. Tiesto, Sean Kingston & Flo Rida - Feel It (W & W remix)
11. BobinaTV, April was the launch episode, what do You have for May ?
Bobina: We're working on it now. It's going to be again about USA, I really became a big fan of the country! Please do not forget to subscribe @ YouTube - Bobinamusic's Channel to see it first.
12. Ever since we spoke last time, I bet the EDM improved a lot in Russia, but I wonder how is the Trance Scene out there. I bet it's overwhelmingly improved thou
Bobina: At the moment Trance scene in Russia is getting bigger and bigger. There are really a lot of great producers here like Ilya Soloviev, Arty, Anton Firtich, Poshout, Alexander Popov to name a few. It's really cool that this year I play a lot of tunes from my Russian comrades in my sets. For example during my recent US tour I started all my sets with a special intro mix I did from Ilya Soloviev's new tune "Echo". This is a very big Progressive record in my personal opinion.
13. Someone was kind enough by giving me the idea asking You what is Your secret, being what You are nowadays, but I am being afraid of killing me after, so I will just stick with a simple one thou. What recommendations can You give to upcoming producers ?
Bobina: The main rule I am trying to follow is that you should do your own thing, not looking at someone else. Most important is to produce music which you love and depends on how you feel. I know a lot of young producers which are doing music based on 'popular presets' nowadays. I always thought it's a bit wrong. And the last thing - DO NOT work with people you do not trust! Even if they really need them NOW - believe me sooner or later they will make something which will be more worse than everything (s)he have done for you in the past. So listen to your heart, guys!.
14. Any last words You might have for all TranceSounders out there, or anyone else reading this interview ?
Bobina: Many thanks for reading the interview guys, love the music, it doesn't matter which style it is. Be yourself!
