1. Who were your musical influences when you began your artist career, is there something different watching back in the past ?
Tempo Giusto: I have had a very wide taste of music and my influences probably begin from artists/bands such as Michael Jackson, Enigma and George Michael, and end all the way to Chopin and Mozart. I guess the main difference with the present and past is that I used to listen to lots of music from all genres but today I listen to mainly dance music, ambient and chillout.
2. How and when did your passion for electronic dance music (EDM) started and what or who made you think it is the best thing to do in life ?
Tempo Giusto: I think I was around 13-years-old when my oldest brother bought a Trancemaster compilation. There was a track called "Australia" by Tibet Team FFM – somehow the spacious, wondering sounds and speedy drums got me real hooked, and I started searching for similar tracks. Another one that comes to mind was Paul van Dyk's "Tell Me Why" that I found on a Ministry Of Sound compilation. What made me think EDM is the best thing in life.. I guess I would say it's the energy and feeling I get from the music. The way harder elements combine with beautiful, heavenly breakdowns, and gather massive amounts of energy to the explosive part. Music has always been very close to me so being able to compose works for an audience is fantastic :-)
3. Your style is told to combine progressive, melodic and tech trance with industrial and technical elements, can you please tell us how did it evaluate in this way ?
Tempo Giusto: After I visited Ibiza in 2006 and London in 2007 I heard all kind of new dance music from minimal to melodic trance, and from progressive to hard tech trance. These all have inspired me and when making songs, I often aim to pick something from all genres.. naturally trance is trance and minimal is minimal but for example some of the percussive effects in minimal tracks can be used quite nicely in trance. Maybe some of my listeners have noticed that I tend to have seasons when I produce lots of certain kind of music…for example, lately I have produced many more melodic songs. So yeah, put all the genres mentioned above to a bowl, mix them up, take out the best and that's what my style is today, heh.
4. Can you please give us more details about your "entrance" into EDM industry and what was your very first impression once you got in ?
Tempo Giusto: My entrance to the EDM industry was with a collaborative track called "Toxicant". It was a progressive, electro trance tune that I composed with my brother, Ima’gin, under the alias Synthika which we still use for more experimental sound. Perhaps a more important entrance for me was founding a label called Echelon Records. The first impression on EDM industry was that although the production quality and ideas were good, nobody wanted to sign an unknown artist. For example, I had a tech trance track called "Agent Orange" that no one wanted, not even smaller labels. We released it as Echelon's debut and it got played by Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Airbase etc, and was even voted as 5th best track of its release month on Corsten’s Countdown. So, it showed us that you just need to get your tracks out there for the public one way or another, and now Echelon is already releasing its 21st release, it's first anniversary compilation :-)
5. The track "X", being dark and hypnotic as we all recognize being your unique eccentric style, had a huge success among the EDM lovers. How did it come to world, is "X" the unknown factor of your unique way of producing ?
Tempo Giusto: "X" was actually done on a cruise ship when I was on my way back home from Stockholm, Sweden. I guess you could say there is an unknown factory in my producing as when you come up with a theme you can't quite know how it will end up sounding. A good theme usually pops in your mind naturally, and just like with "X", it hit me immediately and forced me to compose the song right away. "X" falls into a certain genre of my production of energy-packed club trance. "Agent Orange" began this a year ago and my upcoming release "The Name Game" hits it up by a notch even from "X".
6. Let's talk about you as a DJ. Please tell us about the venues you have been playing at, is there a particular place or event you would like to play at in the future ?
Tempo Giusto: I have mostly done gigs all around Finland and now that I have recently moved to London, I am looking forward to get connected and start playing on venues in the UK, and all around Europe. I would love to play in all kinds of venues and clubs but my dream would be to play in Amnesia in Ibiza, Ministry of Sound in London or even Sensation White in Amsterdam, which would let my clubbiest tracks hit the crowd 200%.
7. I know about your radio show "Global Sound Drift" (GSD) being aired/broadcasted on Afterhours.FM and other syndicated radio stations worldwide, tell me what are your goals regarding the show and what kind of audience are they dedicated for ?
Tempo Giusto: My radio shows are dedicated for trance fans that love to hear the best of today's melodic, progressive and tech trance mixed together with modern, unprecedented club trancers. My goal with GSD is to give my listeners a taste of what kind of live sets they can expect from me, and always aim for the freshest songs out there. I have also made a promise to broadcast minimum one exclusive, unreleased track per month's show.. we will see how long I can keep my promise ;-)
8. You have gained the support from Markus Schulz, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk to name just a few, and even Marcus Schossow said "Tempo Giusto is on his way to something great”. How do you feel about all this great support that you are receiving ?
Tempo Giusto: Naturally I appreciate all the support I get for my production, be it larger or a smaller DJ/artist. After all I love making music and it makes me really happy to see that people like it.
9. Talking about the EDM community can you name a few artists which you have had collaborations with in the past and which of these collaborations you consider the best ?
Tempo Giusto: In the past I have worked with Ima’gin, under our collaborative alias Synthika and with Jace (aka JMN), who I have made tracks with our own names and under Syncope. I enjoy the most working with Ima’gin as we have a similar taste and he contributes ideas equally when we are working on a project. I can leave the studio, come back in 15 minutes and I know there's something new and interesting waiting for me. We like to try everything new as it is always inspiring and refreshing.
10. Please tell us the deal you have with Black Hole Recordings, what is happening with it and what we should expect from you ?
Tempo Giusto: I signed a two-track EP on Black Hole which actually came out just recently on 4th of May. It includes a speedier track "Tick Tock" and a progressive trancer called "London". "Tick Tock" was made in the late-night hours and it's rushing feeling describes the fleeing nature of time, and how it escapes us. "London" on the other hand is quite moody and nocturnal, and was in fact inspired by the city itself. I had visited there a few times and knew I was going to be moving there in a couple of months to study audio engineering and recording arts. So any Londoners out there reading this, check it out - that is how your city sounds to me :-)
11. Tell us about your close future projects such as gigs, and new releases ?
Tempo Giusto: I am currently settling to live in London and as I mentioned before, I am now looking forward to start gigging worldwide. I have possible gigs coming up in Liverpool and Leeds later this year but I don't know any details yet so keep on checking my website every now and then to stay informed. What comes to releases I have lots of even better production coming out steadily. Some in the near future include Synthika's harder tech trance EP “"TechWarrior/Der Totentanz", a more melodic and progressive EP "Deeper State Of Mind/Quadric Maze" and the really tight techier "Atomic Clock EP".
12. Thank you for sharing a bit of your world with us. In closing, do you have any other comments on topics which were not covered, or anything else to say to your fans ?
Tempo Giusto: Well I want to thank all my supporters and I promise that if you have liked my music before, there are even cooler tracks coming to your way in future. Remember to tune for my upcoming radio shows and stay up to date on what's happening on my website. Wish you a pleasant summer everyone!
