New York native Sean Tyas is a Trance DJ and Producer whom is currently living in Switzerland, and is surely rising in the DJ ranks. As of this Valentines Day February 14, 2009 he is requested to create his very first Essential Mix. Last year he was proclaimed #54 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ's Poll and over the past 2 years he has headlined major events including Trance Energy, Dance Valley and has recently become a resident at Global Gathering.
In recent news his latest release has been signed to Sander van Doorn’s Doorn Records and he is set to go on tour in April for three weeks traveling as a special guest resident for Trance Energy’s first official Australian Tour. In the coming months you can expect to see him nearly anywhere including South America, London, Germany, New York, and even Moscow. This guy is really making his rounds!
1. How did it feel to have the honor of mixing your first Essential Mix ?
Sean Tyas: Ah wow, really kinda surreal in every way. Back living in New York a few years ago, I was always listening to the Essential Mixes of all my heroes. So to be able to, at least in this way, join the ranks of these guys is just indescribable.
2. How did your new track get the attention of Sander van Doorn's label "Doorn Records" ?
Sean Tyas: I have wanted to try to make something more like this for a while now, so it was a very fun challenge to work like this. The track is much slower than my usual stuff, but at the speed hopefully I managed to pack in the same punch as my pure trance projects.
3. What motivates you to work so hard ?
Sean Tyas: I just love doing this. In fact I wish I could work harder. I wake up at 5:30 AM or 06:00 AM every Monday through Thursday and get cracking on with E-mails and more simple things and then start studio work around 9:30 AM each day. This schedule is just how I work.
4. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in your experience in the music industry ?
Sean Tyas: Trust most the people you have known the longest.
5. In regards to events... Trance Energy and Dance Valley, just to name a few. Those are some massive events! Were you nervous ?
Sean Tyas: Of course !!! Before I was even DJing I was always a bit stage fright. Obviously that had to be shaken off rather quickly, but still, when it is an important event, I am always a touch shaky (at least for the first couple of tracks I play).
6. You have been traveling a lot lately. What do you do to fight the jet lag ?
Sean Tyas: On the planes themselves I am lucky enough to able to sleep through an H-Bomb explosion, so sleeping on a plane for the majority of every flight is usually exactly what I do. Of course I am cramped when I get up, but at least I am alert :)
7. What else can we expect from Sean Tyas in 2009 ?
Sean Tyas: I will be starting my album just after the Trance Energy Australia tour, and launching a record label later this year. I am VERY excited about these 2 things and know it is going to be that much more work on my part, but hopefully, well worth it.
