1. Hi there Michal, please introduce Yourself to the TranceSound.net community or anyone else reading this exclusive interview, thanks :)
Michal Poliak: Hello everyone, I am an young musician from the most beautiful wine region in Morava, part of Czech Republic. I have been playing violin since early age and after visiting a few rave parties in middle '90s which took place in my city Breclav, as the only place after Prague and I felt in love with the beat and wanted to become a Dj. By the time I wanted to play my own music so I started producing and still use my violin in my tracks.
2. You were born and raised in Czech Republic, therefore can You tell me what the EDM scene is like there ?
Michal Poliak: The party people in Czech Republic are very wild and great full for great performers and good shows, especially the East part, Moravia. Here people are very musically, many great local artists come from my city and region. In the East part of Czech Republic, people still likes harder music, such as Techno, but lately Trance and Minimal are very popular. The west part of the country, with the center in Prague is more commercial, more House and the vibe is not so natural, people are mainly attracted by big famous artists. I would say we have one of the hottest and wildest girls and also guys on the party. Trip to party in Czech Republic is definitely very adventurous.
3. Getting into Your production, can You explain Your style for us, what does consist of ?
Michal Poliak: My style could labeled as very dynamic and energetic, a mixture of Electro, pumping Groovy Techno, Tech-House and Tech-Trance :)
4. At the moment You have got a track called "Wildbull" and also a remix from Dj Preach, can You tell me about that track ?
Michal Poliak: This track, one of the latest Techno tracks I have produced lately it is a bit hardish, very groovy and graduating Breakdown indeed. Dj Preach's remix it is an excellent Tech-Trance stuff with lots of support from Djs worldwide. The remix from Dj Link it is more of an actual Techno sound and I have played it few times with lots of success. My favorite it is definitely Dj Preach's remix.
5. Tell me more about Your own radio show, called "World Republic" being aired/broadcasted on Slinky FM.
Michal Poliak: I am very proud to have my own show on this big and well known radio station, so I intend to present my best music and very interesting guests, carefully chosen within the best Djs and producers of the world. For now my show is presented every third Monday of each month at 07:00 PM GMT UTC London time.
6. What can You tell me about You, being the award winner of the "Producer of the month" on same radio station ?
Michal Poliak: I really didn't expected something like that :) I think I still didn't discover my full potential as I am rebuilding the whole studio in order to get a better sound so I am very surprised.
7. I have seen lately, that there is a new EP from You called "Quinto". Share some further details about it please.
Michal Poliak: "Quinto" was released on Amigos Records, also my track "Wildbull" was released together with Dj Preach's and Dj Link's remixes.
8. After the very successful release of Your last EP called "Victoria", "Rubison", "Black Mamba" and Quinto" (just to name a few) what other projects will You be working on ? Is there a future album coming up ?
Michal Poliak: There is one by the way. I am now currently working on EP for Universal music and if they will like the project in which I am involving some local folclor musician, I will do the whole album for them, if not I will release my album on my own label which I am starting this year. There are also a few others releases coming up called "Czechoslovakia EP", "Man on fire EP" along a popular French singer Akil Wingate, "Vikings EP" and some others are being signed now too...
9. Speaking about all these things, EPs, tracks and everything, have You had any radio support with all them in the past and also nowadays ?
Michal Poliak: There was some support, but mainly on TVs with my last clip, that was long time ago, along Akea, a singer from Czechia, also central European TVs and radio just to name a few: Ocko TV, Radio FM Slovakia.
10. How's the deal You are having with Robert Doherty from New-Wave Management nowadays, is it what You were always looking for ?
Michal Poliak: I am looking forward to get the chance to present my music in some new clubs and parties, also meet new interesting people... :) I would say, I am always looking for, but it is definitely a good achievement for my team and we are really proud to work with Robert thou.
11. On Your MySpace profile, I can see a very busy schedule for the entire summer, but are there any other locations that Your fans can see You and listen to Your style and yet not being added on there, something like TBC or TBA (To Be Confirmed or To Be Advised) ?
Michal Poliak: Yes, this summer I will play on most festivals in Czech Republic as Creamfields, Machac, Hradhouse etc. My agent keeps some events as TBC in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
12. Before we wrap this interview, is there anything else You would like to share with the TranceSound.net community or anyone else reading this interview ?
Michal Poliak: I prefer when the music and my performances speaks for me and I will always do my best and use all my energy to share it with people. Music is a passion for me, not business thou, therefore I want everybody to remember this when they think about Michal Poliak
