Interview with Mike Mikhjian    ( 05.07.2008 - 23:50 GMT UTC )

    1. I know and I realize You are a great producer and Dj as well, in the same time and I also know You are from the United States, therefore I would like to ask You which were the events You have attended overseas if there were some and if not which event would You like to play in Europe or in any other part of the world ?

Mike Mikhjian: Currently I haven't been any to the events overseas. I've seen videos, I've read read other interviews and as well reviews that they are one of a kind and amazing. I do look forward to getting to those events though in the future!

    2. I have been told, that You have been invited at Tiesto's radio show called “Club Life” but not only, there were a lot of shows that You have attended worldwide, such as Markus Schulz's Global Dj Broadcast, Ferry Corsten's Countdown, and the list continues. How was Your experience being invited at all these famous radio shows ? Please tell us more about these great radio shows You have been part of, thanks.

Mike Mikhjian: I'm very grateful that they featured me on their radio shows. Some of them, without me knowing, they will be playing a track of mine and someone will eventually quickly contact me and notify me . But mostly I do appreciate all of them featuring me, and do expect to see more upcoming in the future as there is much more coming.

    3. You have produced a lot of tracks during Your career, but can You please share the name of the best creation You have ever made, something that You love the most ? It has to be one out of so many I have to admit that.

Mike Mikhjian: I would definitely have to say my upcoming track "Michael Mikhjian - FFS". It currently isn't released but you can find a sample of it at my MySpace (myspace.com/mikemikhjian). It's a new sound you will hear from me, its influenced by many of today's leading electronic artist. The track is full of energy and will light up the club floors and keep the listeners waiting to hear what happens next in the track.

    4. Your EDM career as a Dj and producer is very promising being supported by so many EDM artists out there, big names such as Tiesto, Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Ferry Corsten and many many more, how do You feel about this great fact ? In which way do You think this helps Your career or else what do You think, will You ever be able to create any tracks with some of them in the near future ?

Mike Mikhjian: Without there strong support I don't think I would be well enough/known to be having any interviews like this . I'm very grateful for their strong support and I see them as great friends. I hope to constantly bring more big names to support me and keep my name alive in this industry. And maybe you will be seeing some collaborations with them in the future, but till then will see!

    5. Talking about support and other Djs and producers worldwide, can You please name some of the projects You have been working together with other talents, which was the best collaboration You ever had and with whom, if I may ask ?

Mike Mikhjian: The best projects I have done with other great talents were Tasadi & Mike Saint-Jules. Tasadi and myself were able to pull off our track "Zeus" last year which got an amazing Jay Lumen Remix and blew up all over several radio shows, still to this day I am getting great feedback for the entire pack. Also, my track with Mike Saint-Jules "Bay Breeze" was another major hit. I get amazing feedback straight from Dj after the night played out.

    6. I myself, I am a big fan of progressive trance, emotional and melodic trance which I know is Your style too, therefore, I kinda like Your style, specially Your latest 2 hours guest mix You had for TranceSound Session episode 032, back on 21st of June thou, but in the past there were other styles You have adopted, what actually made You to choose this path by the way ?

Mike Mikhjian: The style today I have today took many years to develop actually. When I first started producing around the age of ten I was actually producing techno acid with emotional melodic style. I eventually got into uplifting melodic/trance, but it wasn't the sound I was looking for. After a number of years I finally had narrowed down and found and developed the style I wanted. Today I mostly produce Progressive Trance with a hint of my own style and Progressive Electro/Techno House with of course a hint of my own style. Some would say my tunes sound like a cross between many of today's well known producers.

    7. Checking Your MySpace profile and listening to some of Your latest and oldest tracks - great work You did there by the way - there was this song called “Whispers in the air” that particularly impressed me, really, in a very good way thou, but did You wrote this song in a particular moment of Your life, where is Your inspiration coming from usually ?

Mike Mikhjian: Most of my inspiration comes from everyday life, not limited to anything. The view of the environment, the view of the cloud formations, the skies on a rainy day, etc... I enjoy the simple things in life.. So if your wondering why I have such a huge discography of original tracks, this should be able to answer that.

    8. Beside producing, You do produce remixes too of certain good tracks out there, what can You tell us about this particular work, do You intend to go further into this direction ?

Mike Mikhjian: A lot of my remixes receive amazing support. My remix of Cover Edge on AVA had massive support by almost everyone. Next upcoming remix that just came out actually "Santiago Nino - The Secret (Mike Mikhjian Remix)" was a huge remix for me. If you listen to the original and the remix you can hear the same elements but my remix has an extreme "Mike Mikhjian" style cover on it. I also have my "remix/bootleg" or whatever you want to call it of most know this original track from the SNL skit, "it needs more cowbell!".

    9. As we spoke about Your productions side of Your EDM career, what can You tell us about the Djing side ? How do You consider Yourself a better producer or a better Dj ? It must be one of them I reckon.

Mike Mikhjian: As for the Djing side of my EDM career, its still being prepared. Because I am in Detroit and the scene is not very strong out here, it makes it very hard for me to get any gigs in my hometown. As for outside Detroit, I do have gigs lined up in the fall for a mini tour in some major cities in the USA. I'm very excited for these events and can not way to lead the crowd. I hope next year I can start doing some overseas events and build my name stronger, and choosing one out of 2, being a better Dj or producer... Well in that case, I couldn't really say.

    10. Where do You think, we will be able to see You in the future, are there any upcoming projects, releases and events that You will attend and if You would love to share with us, making us the first to know ?

Mike Mikhjian: In the future I hope to see my name very well known internationally and locally. I would really love to see myself touring the world and continuously producing/remixing. You can expect several new releases upcoming from me every few months. So keep your eyes and ears open for my name!

    11. Before wrapping this interview can You please drop a word for the people that are reading this exclusive interview, especially for the TranceSound community ? Thank you indeed :)

Mike Mikhjian: Keep supporting the scene, tell your friends and families about it, enjoy it and lets expand this electronic scene! Thank you TranceSound for being one of those to keep it strong and constantly expanding.
