Interview with Jace    ( 26.06.2008 - 19:00 GMT UTC )

    1. Who were your musical influences when you ever first began your artist career, is there something different watching back in the past ?

Jace: Well, actually this is my 10th anniversary as Djing.. So as I now look back these years, I am pretty happy for everything I have done.. When I started Djing in clubs I was 17 which is not that big deal nowadays, but it was a little bit different in '90s.. and what comes to my influences, I have been growing up pretty much with music television, listening and recording songs from the local radio station.. If I should mention here some names too, it maybe at the beginning of the '90s with Westbam, Marusha and Rave who really introduced me in the EDM culture. Actually, when I was a teenager, I had couple of really good radio shows and they played everything from dance to house to early kind of trance. Later in '90s I started to listen more and more trance music..

    2. Can you please give us more details about your entrance into EDM industry and what was your very first impression once you got in ?

Jace: When I was 16 years old I first got in a really cool underground club here in Turku, Finland (city where I live) and I think that was the final touch for me, because before that I could only listen to EDM music through radio or CD.. I felt in love directly with the atmosphere that was in there.. people were happy and everyone was dancing (on '90s progressive or something like that if I well remember).

    3. Is there a particular place or event you would like to play at in the future ?

Jace: There are many places... I don't even know which to begin with. Actually if I should mention some that would be Air in Birmingham (I really love Godskitchen) and Old Crasher of course, because all the history was written there during these years.

    4. We know you had a collaboration with Tempo Giusto. Are there any further details that you might wanna share with us about this ?

Jace: I have been knowing Tempo Giusto many years now and I have watch his growing as a producer and as a DJ.. I was visiting his studio one day when he was doing beats and he showed me this track what he was doing that time and he said that he has really big problems with that track.. like dead end, so I told couple of ideas which might work.. and so everything started.. and I can tell you that there is coming more Tempo Giusto & Jace tracks and remixes in the future. Recently we have finished a remix to Jussi Polet, and should be out later this year.. our next track "Voyager" is also finished.. both, remix and "Voyager" is coming out in Finity.

    5. How and when did your passion for Trance music started and what or who made You think is the best thing to do in life ? Jace: I think I have grown in trance pretty much in late '90s, and the biggest influences were definitely GateCrasher Compilations, Ferry Corsten and Lange.. and after that it was no return.. and I think I am not the only one who have experienced the same phenomenon.

    6. I have heard You are a member of Ville Lope`s Finity, how this that happen and what tracks are singed under Finity so far ?

Jace: After we had finished "Pure & Sweet" track with Tempo Giusto, we had couple of labels which were interested in signing this track and we made the deal with Ville Lopes Finity. Finity has always had a very good releases and good reputation so why not ? So far we have released "Pure & Sweet" on Finity and there is 2 more tracks coming later on and remix to Jussi Polet's coming EP.

    7. I know that you are a producer aswell. Can you give us more details about your past production and your present style please ?

Jace: I am pretty newcomer in what comes to producer side.. but I am learning everyday something new. I have worked already together with Marcus Schössow aka Progresia and Tempo Giusto. On the upcoming I am working right now with Imagin (other half of Synthika) and Miika Kuisma. In what comes to styles, I am doing very similar Scandinavian trance sound on my Jace alias and something darker stuff on my JMN alias.

    8. Can you name a few artists which you had any collaborations with in the past and which of these collaborations was the best you had ?

Jace: As I said before, I have collaborated already with Marcus Schössow and Tempo Giusto.. and right now I'm working with Imagin and Miika Kuisma.. I have to say I liked all of this work but the collaboration with Imagin might be the one I liked the most because we have known each other like 10 years now and we have a very similar taste of sound and ideas.

    9. Do you have any future projects that you would love to tell us about and where do you see yourself in a few years from now ?

Jace: I hope Ibiza but who knows... for sure in what comes to future projects, I will continue collaborating with Tempo Giusto and Imagin and I will continue working hard and let see where this everything ends..

    10. In the end can you give any further advices to the young producers out there and also, can you drop a word to the people reading this interview and especially to the TranceSound.net community members ?

Jace: What I wanna tell you is to continue the hard work and have a strong believe in your skills.. and stay humble and be polite to all the good people here in the EDM scene (as an advice stop downloading, start buying). Thank you.

Jace
