| Interview with Yahel ( 11.09.2007 - 14:10 GMT UTC )
1. You`ve been in the electronic dance music for several years in a row. A lot of people come out with two or three songs and then You never hear anything about them again. What kept You motivated and inspired to keep writing and doing this kind of music for such a long time ?
Yahel: Well I am an artist. That can never go away. Music is my life so I need to be making it. I cannot answer for other people but I will say that I am very lucky to have had such a successful career and been able to do it for so long. Something interesting is that a lot of other producers especially in Trance don't make albums they make tracks that they hope to get on other people's albums. Its a hard business but I have been able to make my own albums which is different from many of the young producers out there.
2. After so many years of being behind the boards and desks doing production and mixing aswell, what is the next album going to offer to us the listeners out there ?
Yahel: Well I have been working on some new collaborations with my singer Tammy, and some things with a Yemenite Choir. There will also be some stuff to satisfy my hard core fans. Its exciting to finally have time to sit down and work after I have been traveling for so long this summer.
3. We do know You, just did an article talking about Your solo project, but please elaborate on that a little more.
Yahel: I like to make uplifting music that people will enjoy and dance to. I don't know what more to say.
4. I know that You had one of Your regular shows on DI.fm, last month, on 27th of August, having guests, the well known guys from the Astral Projection from Israel, tell me how it was, and also if You can share, any names of the artists that will attend the show in the future ?
Yahel: Yeah the Astral Mix was amazing. We are working on getting mixes from a few artists, I have been talking with Astrix but he is very busy. System Nipel will be doing a mix and they are going to work on a remix for me too so thats very cool. Also we have had Yankle and Hydroid they will do more in the future too.
5. What is the meaning behind the title "Ocean" with Tammy Federman from NYC ?
Yahel: Well that was a live show I think from Webster hall. The song is about a long distance relationship. "Filled with emotion Ocean keeps me from you." I also like the image of an Ocean and how it flows the track flows like that.
6. Are there any artists today that influence You, either who You look up to or give Your music direction to ?
Yahel: Well I have always loved Madonna and Depeche Mode not only for their music but for their ability to stay on top for so long I hope I can have a career that lasts that long.
7. Since You began making music, You have had the chance to work with a lot of big names in the industry – there`s Dj Tiesto, A Force, Melanie, Eyal Barkan, Tammy Federman from NYC, and a few of others You`ve recorded with. What`s one of your most memorable studio sessions ?
Yahel: Well whenever I work with Tammy it gets better and better the more she does the more experienced she gets it has been great to see her mature as a singer. Also working with Erez Aizen of Infected Mushroom is great because he is so talented, we have not had time to get together in a while but whenever I see him we talk all about music.
8. So what`s that something specific that You passed on to others that You still hold on to ? Thinking that everyone has their mentors, and somehow You became some other artist`s mentor tho
Yahel: Just to keep working if you practice and listen and hear what you are doing you will get better. Its almost like being a writer. If you want to be a better writer besides writing you must read a lot. If you want to be a producer you need to listen to a lot of music.
9. Some of the other labels You have been involved with are Black Hole, Cyber, Tsunami, and Fundamental, with many more to follow too, but can You please give us a full list of all those labels You`re working with ?
Yahel: Well right now I am working on my own label FTPmusic and I have also been able to work with Aardvark records in the UK who released my last disk worldwide.
10. Thank You for Your time Yahel Sherman to sit with us for this interview, and also thank You for dropping by a message to my personal MySpace and Last.fm profile... but also, can You please drop a few lines to the TranceSound.net members and also the ones reading this exclusive interview ?
Yahel: Thanks for supporting me and other Israeli artists, I hope you continue to be interested in our music.
