| Interview with Steven Psaila ( 20.03.2007 - 20:10 GMT UTC )
1. Please introduce Yourself and other informations about You.
Steve Fire: Hi. This is Dj Stevefire from the little shiny island of Malta ! I'm a very well known trance/progressive Dj here and I organise my own events under Outstroke promotions.
2. How did You get started on Djing ? What motivated You the most ?
Steve Fire: Well, it all started when I was about four years old. Seeing my father playing on a Roland synth, the sounds coming out from such a machine fascinated me a lot! Then once I have turned 7 years old I have started playing the piano until I was 13 years old. At the age of 14 I have started my career in a small non-alcoholic club at the southern part of the island of Malta.
3. Do You have any plans to work with anyone in the near future, either producing, either remix any records ?
Steve Fire: Well, at the moment I am producing my own staff. I find myself best to work alone in such things. Right now I'm waiting for a very well knwon trance label to accept me as their artist tho!! We will see this in the near future.
4. I know You are a resident at the Tattingers club in Malta... now tell me the atmosphere down there and also with how many big names You have been working lately, both cases, warming up for them or back to back (B2B) ?
Steve Fire: Tattingers club is a very well known club in Malta especially for trance events. It hosts around 1500 clubbers with it's own vip area. The atmosphere there is simply brilliant... every foreign Dj that ever played there can tell you that it's an unforgettable experience. I warmed up and played after big names such as Dj FIRE, M.I.K.E, Solarstone, Rank1, Johan Gielen, Graham Gold and many others
5. What do You think about drugs in the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) culture ?
Steve Fire: Intelligent people seek intelligent resources. I Love TRANCE and Progressive and for me this is the only mind altering thing I need for a 10 hour night of pure pleasure. Others, I think are simply DUMB!
6. This might be a battered question but, which do You think is better, CDs or Vynil and also why ?
Steve Fire: Nowadays we're living the Digital AGE ! I Prefer CDs specially with Mp3 features such as the Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK3. Vinyl it's old, heavy and it makes a cracking sound while played
7. What kind of music do You consider You mix in the clubs and what determined You to choose this type of music tho ?
Steve Fire: I play only intelligent music... Trance and Progressive. I had many different opportunities to play in commercial clubs here in Malta, and I simply refused because they had a different music policy than what I have.
8. What's your favorite gig ?
Steve Fire: There are many different gigs I would love to go to... but I think the best one that I attended was Armin Only in Holland! Simply amazing!
9. In the end would you like to share something for the Trancesound.net users and some advices for those who wants to start producing/djing ?
Steve Fire: Have fun in whatever you do! If you're seeking to start djing / producing, don't do anything for money. Have fun and give pleasure to those listening to you! This is my key formula that showed me the way to where I am now! Stay Pure!
