| Interview with Snake Sedrick ( 18.10.2007 - 11:40 GMT UTC )
1. When did you start to produce music ?
Snake Sedrick: I have start producing in 1996. I have worked 5 years in silence without official releases. I felt I am not good enough to release tracks yet. These days if a new producer started to work, he want release as soon as possible and (s)he sends tracks to labels after some months, thats not good. You can't find your best sound after 2-3 months... only if You are genious. My first release came out in 2002 if I remember well on Moshic's Dj Mag mix... after that, I have started to work more seriously and these days I learn new things every day... it is a neverending story.
2. What is your favorite genre ?
Snake Sedrick: I am started with progressive house, really dark beats. It was good, these days I like dark beats too but in the 'new way'. The old proggie sound is not for me anymore, I like mostly tech house, some minimal and some electro, but I am really hard when I talk about music. It is really funny because I never played techno, but these days sometime I buy from TECHNO genre in beatport. Of course this techno is more near to tech house and minimal these days. But I can hear everything, jazz, ambient or chill out, sometimes rock or commercial things, I can take ideas from all style..
3. Did you played other genres beside those which you are producing ?
Snake Sedrick: Yes. I like to play different styles in a set. I dont like boring sets. It is too much to play 2 hours electro, 2 hours minimal or 2 hours tech house. I like to play tech, electro, some melodic in a 2 hours set. It makes more variable... like a wave. I like to build up a good set with different styles.
4. What was the main happiness since he started to produce tracks ?
Snake Sedrick: Well its not an easy qestion because I am really happy when I did something success. Whatever it os music licensing, produce a good track or just play a great set in a good club. Music make me always happy, ofcourse when I start to produce the first vinyl contract was really big thing, and big thing was too when Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren or some other big guy played my stuff. Same big thing when Dousk or Matt Rowan said my sound is amazing..
5. Where do you want to play most ? (As location, including here country or clubs where you went during some years)
Snake Sedrick: I like to play everywhere, when the crowd is good and they like the quality music, it is not important where it is. Ofcourse during the years I was on some really nice tour like The Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt, Romania, Serbia and others. I have many favourite place so I can say only 3 or 5 places..
6. What's your favorite dj/producer/remixer of all time ?
Snake Sedrick: I have some favourites, but these days lot of producer disappear after 1-2 tracks, I don't know why. From the 'old' guys I still like Chris Micali, Dousk, then my friends Jay Lumen, Add 2 Basket and Belocca, they make unique sound and great quality. Eelke Kleijn is also big friend of mine and he is a great producer. Another favourite is Matthew Dekay and Rene Amesz, I have some other who play and produce really good music but actually these guys are most important for me.
7. What is the track which converted you into a producer ?
Snake Sedrick: Hm, Moshic works in 2002-2003. Nightstalker, 2 Loose la track, Faza... etc and of course some other great producer in this time. Blue Haze, Quivver, Luke Chable, Danny Tenaglia and many many more.
8. Where do you see yourself in the next 3,4 years ?
Snake Sedrick: Hehe, yeah sometimes I am thinking about it, I would be happy to go up to the DjMag list without cheat of course... I want play many good clubs around the world and licensing my music to big compilations, for television or console games ect. I have many plans for the future, and I try to do my best. I want take lot of friends worldwide and make lot of more fun.
9. Do you have an own track which you like the most ?
Snake Sedrick: Always the recent track is my favourite hehe.
10. Have you been dj before producer or producer before becoming dj ?
Snake Sedrick: I am started with producing, after 5-6 years I started to play. I enjoy both a lot, but both are different feeling. If I work in the studio its more 'remote' thing, I do what I feel without compromise. You just concantrate for the sounds and music, after that you can go to club and test it.. it is amazing when you play first your track for a good crowd.
11. Would you like to share something to those who will read this interview and for those which are comming on the EDM scene ?
Snake Sedrick: Support the quality music and quality artists!
