| Interview with Anthya ( 12.07.2007 - 18:10 GMT UTC )
1. How was your experience working with Alex Bartlett ?
Anthya: Coming from a career in pop music, my musical collaboration with Alex Bartlett was hard work at the beginning. Working with Alex, however, was great from the beginning because of the great musical ability and professionalism that immediately came out of our work. I have to get to know trance music and learn about a new genre that fascinated me right away – Alex was a great teacher in this respect.
2. Where was your vocal talent first discovered ?
Anthya: It was the owner of a recording studio, who I still work with, who showed one of my music excerpts to a music school.
3. Have you ever taken vocal lessons or any other musical studies ?
Anthya: Of course; this isn’t a career that can be improvised. You do need talent, but without study, without making sacrifices, you can’t go anywhere. Up until now, I’ve studied vocals to discover my full potential.
4. Who wrote the vocals for the track “Touch the Sun” ?
Anthya: Touch the Sun’s melody began as collaboration with Alex Bartlett. He sent me the instrumental base over which I put some vocals. Then he checked and corrected my work. We did this a couple of times until we produced to the song we all know now.
5. Where the vocal’s to the track layed down prior to the production or was the instrumental part of the song created first ?
Anthya: After we used a generic base to develop the melody, Alex Bartlett did the final production, changing the original base that was necessary to write the song – this is the same procedure we use for our other productions.
6. Have you ever performed live ?
Anthya: Definitely, but only in pop music.
7. What is the largest audience that you have ever performed live for ?
Anthya: 2000 people in Piazza Duomo, Milano’s main downtown square, at an animal-rights demonstration singing one of my songs written in defense of animals.
8. What are some of your goals in the trance scene ?
Anthya: Keeping it real, I’m also still working with Alex Bartlett who I really admire. I’m open to new things and interested in working with other DJs or singers from the trance scene.
9. How do you feel about the trance scene in Italy ?
Anthya: Unfortunately trance music isn’t very popular in Italy…Italy is actually going through a huge musical crisis in general right now, creatively speaking (it’s not by chance that trance music, which I think is the most artistic kind of dance music, is not popular or well-known). This crisis includes not only dance music, but also all music in general – it’s a long story, but being in Italy for one year and trying to work in music is enough to understand the evils that plague the music industry.
10. Are there any artists that you would particularly like to work with in the future ?
Anthya: Anyone with an artistically valid idea or proposal or who is artistically intriguing is someone I’d work with, with pleasure – famous or not.
