1. Hi Mike, please introduce Yourself to let TranceSound community to know as a person and artist aswell, thanks
Mike Mikhjian: Well, my name is Mike as you can see in the question and I am currently 17, and have been producing since I was 10.
2. What kind of musicians have You worked with over the years ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well, first off ive been offered over 100's of collabs ever since I started, but never went in because well I have no clue, but I do work with several artists signed & unsigned almost everyday. I support alot of people, give ideas and such. I have been supported and have supported so many people from: Undersun to Kenneth Thomas to Ambrosial to Mark Ottiz and etc... I always meet someone new, like recently Andy Moor / Thomas Sagstad. So it's always growing by the month!
3. When You have started with music and did You begin training as a very young child ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well I was only 10 and I had got my hands on Flstudio. And I was always curious, so I was able to teach my self loop based production and such. As months went by I mastered flstudio and moved onto the next level of production on Reason. After that, Cubase and Sonar and I am now using Ableton Live 6 which I absolutely love ! So all the training came from experimenting and curiosity.
4. According to the new and fresh top100 djs out there, who do You think is the only one that represents trance music the most ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well, I can't really say. Id say its those top 100 that all do represent a certain style / sound of trance.
5. Who else do You think it fits with Your music concerns and style and You reckon its easy to work with from all any other djs and producers around the world ? just name a few please.
Mike Mikhjian: In somewhat: David West, Niklas Harding, Andy Moor, Marcus Schulz, Funabashi, Elevation and many others.
6. Please share with our readers what trance music means to You
Mike Mikhjian: The amazing melodies and synths that no other genre could reproduce, that puts you into a mood out of this world.
7. How did You come to get involved in producing electronic music ?
Mike Mikhjian: I don't remember exactly, it was a very very long time ago. But its a good thing I am!
8. I read Paul Van Dyk's interview to a local radio station and he said that he would be very grateful if people would understand the philosophy and the way that he feels trance music, what do you think about that ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well, everyone's got there own opinion :P
9. What is Your Philosophy regarding trance music ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well I don't really have a philosophy regarding trance. Its either you like it or don't :)
10. Do You think that this year dj mag top 100 reflects better the reality in EDM industry ? ...and also please name 3 of Your favorite djs in this top !
Mike Mikhjian: Id say so, but I wouldn't be able to give my 3 favorites. Like 60 of them are my fav haha
11. In Your productions what You prefer VSTs or hardware ? and also motivate Your choice please
Mike Mikhjian: VSTs all the way, hardware is to expensive haha but then again VSTs are as powerful as hardware so I wouldn't buy hardware anyway. My fav VSTs include but not limited to: Atmospheres, Discovery, Albino, Absynth, alot of the linplug VSTs, and few others cant remember off the top of my mind.
12. Beside music, what other hobbies do You have ?
Mike Mikhjian: Ahh, so many. I like to play soccer, football, basketball. I am a major car man, whatever you want to call it haha. I also am a entrepreneur, so im always working on some sort of business (mostly online). I also do graphic design / flash design and aswell web design, oh and video editing/production too.
13. Do you have any music studies or any music background in your family ?
Mike Mikhjian: None
14. Tell us how would you describe your style ? Any artists that have been influenced You from beginning until now ?
Mike Mikhjian: Well my style has always been known to be extremely unique and different. I like to call it the "Mike Mikhjian style" thou. Alot of people have said my style is "sort of" similar to David West and some other big names, but I have no clue. I am influenced by almost every trance, progressive producer that's out there big or small, and I think that is what really contributes to my unique sound, a bit of everything.
15. What other kind of music do You ever listen besides electronic music ?
Mike Mikhjian: I enjoy listening to almost everything you would hear on the radio today. All the way from rock to hip hop, as long as it sounds good
16. And the last question on the list, please tell us Your honest comment about TranceSound portal and it`s community and if You ever have heard about it before.
