Above and Beyond Group Therapy review

Above and Beyond debuts second artist album Group TherapyA critic once stated that “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay would change the world. I have the same strong intent when it comes to Above & Beyond’s second artist album, “Group Therapy”.

Intended to touch the core of human emotions on the most basic but essential issues: love, life, and death.

We begin our journey into “Group Therapy” with “Filmic”, a soothing string of piano chords accompanied by the melodic tones of bells. Much like the beginning of a new life, “Filmic” is a soft, yet mysterious, transition into the rest of the album’s story. Read more

Solarstone presents Electronic Architecture 2

Solarstone presents Electronic Architecture 2This new instalment may have gone through separately setup in terms of playlist and sound arrangement, but it’s Electronic Architecture, where electronic music meets art, therefore both merged together ended up in something that only Solarstone can come up with – Electronic Architecture volume 2 – having signed to his own label Solaris Recordings, being a reminiscent of EA origins. While as long as many albums, the “side-project” nature of the work allows Rich to break away from exploring every corner of his psyche and just have a very good approach when it comes to a showcased album. There aren’t many left who doubt Solarstone’s skills in general, but those who might be concerned that an EA album means “pure art in its sound full-force of imagination” can rest easy. For a veteran who has seen it all come and go, longevity is to be applauded. Read more

Gareth Emery presents Northern Lights re-lit album released on Garuda Music

Gareth Emery presents Northern Lights re-lit album released on Garuda MusicSame ambitious producer and label owner is bringing you yet another remixed album of his last year’s instalment, one of the most listened album of 2010, “Northern Lights” released on his own imprint, Garuda Music. This time around, Gareth Emery is trying to sum up the efforts of years worth of talented musicians releasing 10-plus tracks in the same window of time to come up with something different than what was the original album, therefore, here’s “Northern Lights Re-Lit” for you.

With remixes from Ashley Wallbridge, Arty, Hardwell, Beltek, John O’Callaghan, Super8 & Tab, Dennis Sheperd, Jordan Suckley, Langers, Daniel Kandi, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and Jorn van Devyhoven in this order, this new album has something unique and memorable. Their cutting edge music style made the album a must have for 2011. All the acts mentioned earlier, veterans or aspiring producers, are most likely attempting to capture the ‘northern light’ fever and make their own remix of it. On the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) side most attempts are being captured already with the instalment of this new remixed album. Read more

Ministry of Sound presents Chilled House Session Two

Ministry of Sound presents Chilled House Session 2The first CD begins with Eric Pryda’s brilliant vocal hit, “Niton (The Reason)”, added with a touch of Ministry of Sound flavour on the remixing duties. As the second track, and a club hit favourite, Kaskade & Deadmau5′s “Move for Me” might have been a better choice for an opening chilled compilation but nonetheless a good choice in the introduction.

The album begins to give reasons to move to with Michael Cassette’s mellow electro hit “Summer” which transitions well into the galactic monster Adam K & Soha call “Twilight”. Groove Armada’s remixed track of “History” acts as a medium transitioner to an upbeat Tensnake’s “Comacat”. The Round Table Knights mix is perfect fit for “Comacat”; however, is not a fit-able suitor for the previous track. This is not a reason to stray away. Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed” will have your ears just as star-struck and gives you a chance to get off the couch and chill into a more danceable mode. Read more

One More Tune presents Cream Chilled Electronic

Cream Chilled ElectronicTo describe Cream as a “clubbing pioneers” would not be far from the truth. Better known for their clubbing experience, the Liverpool based company made a huge impact in the UK, especially Ibiza and also throughout the world. They has built up their sound throughout the last 2 decade, being one of the most profound experience of the present. And yet here we are in 2011, with the Chilled Electronic’s debut compilation, a distinctive 60 tracks CD showcase, a talented, privileged album aware of its ambient distinction. Talented because of its playlist and privileged because the album literally got you back in the oldie but goldie times, the likes of The Doors, Simply Red, Tears for Fears, Goldie, Groove Armada and Vangelis for starters. More others names that are being showcased includes Royksopp, Massive Attack’s remix of Garbage, Moby, Cicada, Hybrid, William Orbit, Fatboy Slim, Dido, Bob Sinclar, Aeroplane, Orbital, Underworld and many many more others. Roger Shah aka Sunlounger presents The Beach Side of Life

Sander van DoornIn 2007 “Another Day On The Terrace” was an album that have worked very well for all Balearic minded people around the world. Its title was the beginning of a great journey, that only Sunlounger could provide and it was a full statement that a whole new chapter have just emerged. Several top notch names of artists have joined forces on the project such as Roger Shah himself, in those days also well known as Dj Shah, Zara Taylor (a name that we will always love in Shah’s tracks), plus so many others. That was such a phenomenal project indeed. Both artists could go from sleepy down-tempo to danceable packed tracks with so much Las Salinas-inspired stream of consciousness that the included lyrics sheet was both a necessity and a joy to follow along with. Add to the album a whole new lists of names, from writers to producers, such as Ingo Zielinski. Alexander Pearls, Stevie Lee Young, Ezequiel Etcheverry, Martin Etcheverry, York, Britta Medeiros and you have a perfect album that still sounds ahead of its time. Read more
