Solarstone presents Pure on Black Hole Recordings

Solarstone presents Pure on Black Hole RecordingsSolarstone: Pure

His third studio album, ‘Pure’ heralds the frontline return for DJ, producer, singer and songwriter, Solarstone (aka Richard Mowatt). A 13-track collection of new music, it features musical co-productions with artists like Aly & Fila and Giuseppe Ottaviani and vocal team-ups with singers including Betsie Larkin, Clare Stagg, Billy McGruddy and Hannah Magenta.

(Forthcoming through Black Hole Recordings, May 21st, 2012)

Pre-order on iTunes

With the trance genre dividing and sub-dividing, rather than follow the fragmentation pack, in 2010 Solarstone diverted to record his concept album ‘Touchstone’. Now, two years on, he’s back with a new long-player and a new manifesto.

“I recorded this album as a reaction to all the riven division that’s crept into trance over the last 3 years. It’s a kickback against nonsense genre terminologies and a fight-back against the self-appointed style councils that try to tell us what music’s cool and what the latest must-like is. Against tracks that have such a mish-mash of sound styles that even their producers don’t know what they are making. This album is both a purification and celebration of the term TRANCE. I’m reclaiming it, for all those who just want to dance to music that takes them to another place, for whom this music is a feeling, a passion, a way of life. So I say: Vive La Trance! You need to be proud of what makes you feel good… To all of you who know your own minds, this album contains PURE trance – embrace it! ”Richard Mowatt, Solarstone – April 2012 Read more

Daniel Wanrooy presents debut solo album “Slice Of Life”

After countless singles, remixes and an album release under the well known Progression guise, Daniel Wanrooy now moves on to a whole new level in his career and presents his debut solo album entitled “Slice Of Life”.

Daniel has been pretty busy in the midst of the recording sessions for his new album. While working on “Slice Of Life” he finished remix assignments for The Crystal Method, Super8 & Tab, JES and Thrillseekers and saw his earlier single “Endless Moments” secured by Ferry Corsten, who used it for his double mix compilation “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2”. The same happened with Betsie Larkin with Super8 & Tab’s “All We Have Is Now” in the Daniel Wanrooy remix, which Corsten grabbed for “Full On Ferry – Ibiza”.

If that wasn’t enough, Daniel also delivered his DJ mix for the “In Trance We Trust, Volume 14” mix compilation. Bookings poured in and Daniel performed in Brazil, Taiwan, South Africa and the U.K and in most European countries. This summer, Daniel will make his debut on Ibiza. Read more

Danilo Ercole presents A Man With Two Names and Quasar on Armada Music

Danilo Ercole presents A Man With Two Names and Quasar on Armada MusicDanilo Ercole presents A Man With Two Names and Quasar on Armada Music

A favorite of Coldharbour followers over the years, Brazil’s Danilo Ercole begins 2012 in impressive fashion, with two tracks that illuminated Markus Schulz’s Los Angeles ’12 compilation.

Regularly contributing to the label with tech-laiden yet beautiful melodies, Danilo’s previous efforts such as Harbour, Below the Equator Line and Water That Birds Don’t Drink helped establish his credentials as someone to keep an eye on. Setting the tone for disc 1 of Los Angeles ’12, A Man with Two Names immediately registered itself as a fan favorite, with the listener taken on a journey combining deep moments with euphoric. Danilo’s own Club Mix gives the track a more uptempo feel, and provides a nice alternative to choose when planning DJ sets.

Quasar is also found on LA’s first disc output, and follows in similar vein to Water That Birds Don’t Drink. Throbbing basslines with an incredibly catchy melody is the order here. To give the track a different dimension, Danilo invited fellow Coldharbour alumnus Styller, fresh

from a huge release of his own on the label in the form of All That Remains and Quantum Mechanics, to give Quasar a nice melodic flavour.

Danilo proves with both tracks that he continues to go from strength to strength, particularly with consistent plays in Markus’ livesets. Between A Man with Two Names and Quasar, at least one will appeal. Read more

Richard Durand presents In Search Of Sunrise 10 contest

Richard Durand presents In Search Of Sunrise 10 contestRichard Durand presents In Search Of Sunrise 10 contest

‘In Search of Sunrise’ hits its big 10th edition this year and following Tiësto’s handing-over-of-the-reigns, Richard Durand is now lining up his third outing. With ’10′ ringing in our ears, we sensed something special might be on the cards, so we put a call in to R.D. to get the inside track on his plans. As it turned out, we got a whole lot more of it than we bargained for… Richard spills all: “as one of the most beloved trance mix-comp series of all time, taking on ‘In Search of Sunrise’ was a huge responsibility for me. Moreover though it’s been enormously enjoyable and rewarding; one of the best things to happen in my career. I really wanted to commemorate its 10th release in a way that would pay proper dues to its history. It’s an incredible feeling being the series’ compiler/mixer – an experience I’d like each and every person out there to have. That’s never going to be possible of course, but when Black Hole suggested an ISOS all-time classics disc, as part of the 10th release, I did spot a way in which I could make it happen for at least one other DJ”.

What Richard’s come up with is nothing short of spectacular, and even that might be underselling it! He is giving one ISOS-loving über-spinner the opportunity to mix… an In Search of Sunrise disc! This ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is the stuff of ultimate wish fulfilment, daydreams-come-true, passports to future possibilities + more! One person out there will get to follow where only Tiësto and Richard have stepped before!

If you fancy the sound of it, here’s what you need to do. Gather together your favourite tracks from ISOS’ 1- 9 (that gives you close to 200 weapons to choose from) and work them into your perfect, immaculate In Search Of Sunrise. You have until the 9th of May to plan and produce it, so no time for wasting! Read more
