Interview with Claudia Cazacu Queen of Trance

Claudia Cazacu1. Hi there Claudia and thanks for having this exclusive interview for TranceSound.net in the first place.

Claudia Cazacu: Your welcome.

2. So tell me, how did You get into the EDM spectrum, being a well known Producer, Remixer and Dj ? How did it all come together ?

Claudia Cazacu: After years of clubbing I decided I wanted to DJ and so set about practicing and learning my trade. Production was the natural step and I’m please to see that my work has slowly got better and better.

3. “Freefalling”… We all know the track, we all love it too, but please tell me about this project along Audrey Gallagher.

Claudia Cazacu: I actually wrote the track over a year ago now. Originally I hadn’t intended to add vocals to it but sent it over to Audrey and she liked it so we took things from there. She has the voice of an angel and loved working with her. Read more

Interview with Randy Boyer

Randy Boyer and Aerotek1. We know for a fact that on 14th of August you had a gig with the well known (and one of the most important DJ’s, remixers and producers of all times), Mr. Paul van Dyk. Please tell us about it.

Randy Boyer: Well that was my first time ever playing with Paul Van Dyk, so I was really excited. It has always been a dream to DJ along side of him, and that opportunity was definitely one of my accomplished moments. After that, I ended up DJing along side of him once again in Boston MA on 09.12.08, so twice in two months was pretty amazing!

2. Talking about gigs, I also know that You had several other venues in the past with Tiesto at the Constitution Plaza, also ATB at Pacha NYC (where I also have pictures made by several TranceSound.net forum moderators), also Ferry Corsten at The Estate. Please let us know how does it feel to be surrounded by so many well known names out there ?

Randy Boyer: Well it is an honor to be a part of these events. These are all DJs and producers that I look up to, and have dreamed about DJing along side of. I have been working extremely hard all of my career, so it is really great to be finally recognized. I always new what I wanted to do and become, and now my dreams and goals are starting to come together. Read more

Interview with Tempo Giusto

Tempo Giusto1. Who were your musical influences when you began your artist career, is there something different watching back in the past ?

Tempo Giusto: I have had a very wide taste of music and my influences probably begin from artists/bands such as Michael Jackson, Enigma and George Michael, and end all the way to Chopin and Mozart. I guess the main difference with the present and past is that I used to listen to lots of music from all genres but today I listen to mainly dance music, ambient and chillout.

2. How and when did your passion for electronic dance music (EDM) started and what or who made you think it is the best thing to do in life ?

Tempo Giusto: I think I was around 13-years-old when my oldest brother bought a Trancemaster compilation. There was a track called “Australia” by Tibet Team FFM – somehow the spacious, wondering sounds and speedy drums got me real hooked, and I started searching for similar tracks. Another one that comes to mind was Paul van Dyk’s “Tell Me Why” that I found on a Ministry Of Sound compilation… Read more

Interview with Maor Levi

Maor Levi1. Tell us, when and how did you hook up with electronic music ?

Maor Levi: When I was about 12 years old, me and a good friend of mine were exposed to Tiesto sets and his wonderful Magik series… we started to listen to it day after day and were amazed… we never knew what was Trance back then, as israeli people we knew only Psy-Trance… So we had massive interest on how to produce this music and how great it is. From that moment we got into it more and more till we decided we wanted to explore it more to its very foundations, which is producing.

2. Tum Ta Titally Tum Ta Too. Da Derp Dee Derp Da Teetley Derpee Derpee Dumb. Der

Maor Levi: It’s too obvious. Derp Dee Tum Ta. :) (this was a funny question by the way) Read more

Interview with Tenthu

Tenthu1. I well remember the previous exclusive interview You had for TranceSound.net back in the days, it feels like it was few weeks ago thou, therefore please tell me how have You been so far, musicwize and what EDM preserved/archived from You lately ?

Tenthu: Yeah it is been two years ago but seems like time lasted much quicker :) I was working hard on remix duties and my original tracks. Also I am still working on my artist album, which is not finished yet but I am planning to finish it till the end of spring or summer of this year. Also helping to make tracks engineering now to some young producers and working on some TV commercials. No time to relax!

2. So recently, I just got a copy of this dope EP you did, called “Disco Craze”. Tell us more about that.

Tenthu: It is a progressive house tune with some elements of tech and deep house. It is not signed on any record label yet, but I think it is just a question of time. It perfectly works on dance floors and I am planning to make some more tracks like this. Read more

Interview with Kaseta and Graf

Kaseta & Graf1. How did the group Kaseta & Graf took birth into the worldwide EDM scene ?

Dave Kaseta: I was in a band for 10 years, playing as a drummer and mixing the bands music together on adobe audiocity. As the band members were splitting up from lack of commitment and drive for success, I was determined to keep my passion for music alive. Going to my first show at the guvernment, in toronto to see Armin Van Burin, I was introduced into the EDM scene. Shortly after my first experience with EDM, I started to collect and listen to a wide range of music. From trance, progressive house, and other electronic music genres. But listening was just not enough for me. I learned about a program called Virtual Dj where I could mix the music that I was just starting to gain a passion for. Slowly my passion for EDM grew to a state where I was creating mixes on a regular basis. Read more

Dennis Sheperd: Hi, my pleasure. Dennis Sheperd is my alias for my more trance-orientated tracks and songs. I would describe them as a mixture between progressive, house and trance. I get my influences from every genre I am listening to and those are a lot (I am very open minded).

2. New year started, good bye 2008, welcome 2009. What are some of your goals for this year ?

Interview with Marcus Schössow

Marcus Shossow1. After listening to your tracks carefully, it could be said that some of them boast a very dark feeling in contrast to more luminous tracks such as “Progresia – The shelter”. Asking for an introspective answer, what lies inside the hood that makes that big difference ? Did something happen that marked your music and your life ? Are there two Shössows inside you ?

Marcus Schössow: Impressive question ! And, yes, there are two schossow, a very kind gentle emotional and a very very ruff bastard. I prefer them both, it makes my life alot more fun! All the Progresia’s tracks are made with a very strong feeling of either disappointment or love, I think tears behind sun glasses means by far the most to me. I would consider to be a borderline I guess… not a psycho, but right on the boarder hahaha !

2. Please name us what have been your greatest gig, and the most disastrous one.

Marcus Schössow: Most horrible was a gig in Norway 2 years ago for 5 people in a club for like 1000 people, promoter forgot to do marketing. Oh well, those 5 who showed up ended up in the bar getting very very drunk ! Best gigs hmm, it’s always good when it’s good, but Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland always gets naughty, filthy and really really wild ! Read more

Interview with Mat Zo

Interview with Mat Zo1. Let me ask You this Matan, speaking from an artist perspective a lot of producers try sending you beats, in order to make remixes for them, especially when you are on the come up and on the grind. What do you look for in a beat, what type of sound you need ?

Mat Zo: I look for catchy elements or anything that sounds inspiring. When I do a remix I’m just trying to take something i like out of the original track and turn it into my own ideas.

2. Speaking about you as an artist, Dj, producer and remixer, what made you decide that you want to follow this road, the EDM industry ?

Mat Zo: I have always wanted to create music since I was little. When I got into producing and djing there was no doubt about it, this was what I wanted to do for a living. The fact that its slowly happening is a dream come true. Read more
