Interview with Infected Records owners

Infected RecordThis is not a typical exclusive interview that I am normally conducting but due to their busy schedule in the studio, I had to start sending the questions to them and they had to create an audio file on it, therefore, here’s the final out come of what they did came up with, in relation to my list of 21 questions I had for them in particular. During this interview you can easily sense a level of willingness from both sides, the Infected Records owner and co-owner to change something within the actual EDM and EMI’s nowadays. Here’s what they have to say in relation to this, so therefore just sit back and relax and listen the next following 20 minutes of what they are having to say. Speaking with General Manager and co owner James “Arcadia” Sweeney. The interview itself will be more about their latest releases, forthcoming projects and other useful details on how to keep themselves busy in an overwhelming busy music industry, something that we all are a part of it.

1. Hi there James. First and foremost I need to know what prompted you and your partner-in-crime James Allan building this label ?

2. With so many labels out there, especially the digital ones, what do you reckon that Infected Records has that no other label has so far ?

3. I understand your passion for music, fair enough, but do you think that this is the only reason why a label should be created in the first place ? What other reasons are behind this project ?

4. How long have you been a record label ?

5. What inspired you two to do what you do ?

6. What has been the hardest thing as an independent record label operating in Scotland ? Would you prefer a different market ?

7. Speaking about it, what are your thoughts on the local EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and EMI (Electronic Music Industry) scene as a whole here in the UK ?

8. How many releases have you had ? Who are all of the artists on Infected Records ?

9. What do you feel are your biggest accomplishments so far ?

10. What are your future goals and plans for summer 2011 or else early 2012 ? Anything else major on the horizon ?

11. Any words of advice to artists or else aspiring ones trying to contact you and submit a demo ?

12. Are there any British artists or else any other ones you want to work with at Infected Records ?

13. What are your future projects in order to become a successful label recordings within the British market ?

14. Do you feel like it’s getting harder for independent labels to book shows and tours lately, or else to advertise their own sound to the masses ?

15. On the business administration side, have you added anyone to the team in the past year or do you still mostly run the circus by yourself ?

16. Do you think it’s important to work with EDM forums/portals such as TranceSound.net, or else blogs on exclusive releases and co-signs, or have you stopped worrying about that as the Infected Records gets more and more established as a label with each release ?

17. Coming back on the business and administration side again, if you could hire employees, what kind of work would you want to delegate first ? Or else, what kind of expertise would you like to bring on-board for the company ?

18. What advice do you have for artists just getting started with building and managing their own image within such a though scene nowadays ?

19. It’s been a while since I have reached a number of 19 questions for an interview, hehe but since you are having quite lots of fresh information and plenty to chew on, it’s easy to go large with someone like you two, therefore, one of my last questions would be something like this: What’s your experience been in the past year in terms of your own productions ? What’s your process for creating that sound of yours and what kind of software are you using to make it happen’ ?

20. Sweeney, what’s this new project of yours all about ? The Arcadia one ? Spread some information with us, making us the first to know, thanks

21. Tell me how fans can easily reach and tell me if there’s a special message you are having for the ones reading this interview, especially the TranceSound.net community.
