Ministry of Sound presents Chilled House Session Two
The first CD begins with Eric Pryda’s brilliant vocal hit, “Niton (The Reason)”, added with a touch of Ministry of Sound flavour on the remixing duties. As the second track, and a club hit favourite, Kaskade & Deadmau5′s “Move for Me” might have been a better choice for an opening chilled compilation but nonetheless a good choice in the introduction.
The album begins to give reasons to move to with Michael Cassette’s mellow electro hit “Summer” which transitions well into the galactic monster Adam K & Soha call “Twilight”. Groove Armada’s remixed track of “History” acts as a medium transitioner to an upbeat Tensnake’s “Comacat”. The Round Table Knights mix is perfect fit for “Comacat”; however, is not a fit-able suitor for the previous track. This is not a reason to stray away. Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed” will have your ears just as star-struck and gives you a chance to get off the couch and chill into a more danceable mode.
James Talk & Ridney add to the vibe with a stellar “Sunshyne” to the mix that screams IBIZA! From here the album tends to transcend into a deeper house melody created by none other than Mark Knight, who would rather do nothing more than reach out “From the Speaker”. By far one of my personal favourite remixed tracks is the remarkable Deadmau5 remix of Marco Demark’s version of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer”. This is one of the rarities that need no introduction into the combination of melody and harmony. And it is a no brainer why it has been chosen to be apart of the second addition to Chill House. Producer Example followed up splendidly with his masterpiece “Two Lives”, remixing duties to Kris Menace. This particular mix is more on the progressive side with is hypnotic keyboard melodies, yet holds very chill potential.
Again not straying too far from the original purpose, Wez Clarke’s remix of The One Hundred’s “Break Me Down” is a chic vocal piece that takes total control of your speakers yet won’t break your eardrums. Mark Knight returns to the table, except only to create a solid remix of Soul Central’s “Need You Now”. Ultra’s very own Wolfgang Gartner breaks away from the white of Yin to the dark side of Yang. Trip on down to the lounge known as Jamie Jones and turn into summer early for their catchy key bomb “Summertime”. South Beach anyone? It’s still summer time for Jakatta as well. John Ciaforne’s remix of “One Fine Day” holds on to blissful memories. Treasure Fingers break back into house with “It’s Love” followed by the club fusion of the Freemasons with soothing vocals by Wynter Gordon. The first discs ends with the ever-popular house combo of Swedish House Mafia, who seem to be on fire at the moment, team up with Laidback Luke and Deborah Cox for “Leave the World Behind”.
Disc two begins with an incredible intro to deep house meets ambient with Zero 7′s “Destiny” (Photek remix). Underworld treads into a deeper mode with “Crocodile”. Prepared to sip a mixed concoction of champagne with Trentmoller version of “Le Champagne”. This variety of beeps, bass, and drums blends in well with the rest of the followed tracks by Fish Go Deep, Solu Music, Dennis Ferrer and Pirupa. Joey Negro brings us back to a more peaceful variation with a funky jazz-fusion that is followed up with Henrik Schawarz’s version of Stevie Wonder’s “Feeling You”. Once again it is Joey who brings us around to the chill-state with “Why” (Hott Toddy remix).
Get your groove on with AFMB’s “Backup Days”, sounds that remind us of the early 90′s club hits. Keep those shades handy, you will need them for a trip back in the melody of the 80′s with The Revenge featuring Danielle Moore. Please feel free to keep your soul in the present with a stunning electric tune titled “Simple Soul” by Burn the Negative. But keep your heart in the past when it comes the smooth groove of Azari & Lii’s “Reckless with Your Love”. A bit on the dance and hip side, this track will make one want to ‘bust a move’ for certain.
Feel free to refresh with a memorable club classic by Nalin & Kane. “Beachball” is one of the few where the listener can imagine themselves in the driver’s seat of the lyrics. Nufrequency’s “Fallen Hero” streams the chilling drum vibrations into your body so you can fully take into affect the purpose of the Chill House. Dig deeper into your subconscious with Sultan & Ned Shepard’s (featuring Dirty Vegas) “Crimson Sun”. Lastly the album ends with Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream” (Sam La More remix). As with the beginning of the compilation, there seems to be a bit of mix up with transition. The listener might be a bit too chilled from the previous tracks to enjoy an upbeat ending from Empire.
Overall, the compilation is a great addition to newbies in the House scene field.
