Interview with Gareth Emery
1. It’s been nearly a year since we have last heard from You Gareth. It seemed to be a sure thing that You were going to appear back again in the spotlight because of Your latest “Northern Lights” album. However, what can You tell me all about it ?
Gareth Emery: I guess I was quiet whilst I was writing the album. I mean, I did have Global (the anthem of Global Gathering festival) but that was it really. It was quite liberating to have some time off remixes to work on my own stuff to be honest.
2. Your last track “Sanctuary” along Lucy Saunders jumped on top because everyone is feeling the title and the vibe of the track thou. Therefore, it ended up being the most well known track of the album. Who’s in charge with the remix duty ?
Gareth Emery: Sean Tyas and his remix is amazing, he absolutely killed it. I am still quite amazed how well “Sanctuary” has done as the first single. Read more
Interview with Showtek
1. Tell us about the new show “F**K THE SYSTEM”, what does it involve ?
Showtek: As producers we want to add an extra element to our show, off course Dj-ing is great to do, but to bring a little more excitement for the crowd was our main target. The FTS show will include some in sync live influences, show elements and a more mature look and feel on stage.
2. And the new accompanying compilation also called F**K THE SYSTEM ? What can we expect from this album ?
Showtek: Well we have been trying to put some Fresh high standard Productions on this compilation. For us it is very important to be as diverse as possible. So to start off with this thought we made a completely “Out of the box” f**ck the system intro track. Well intro, it’s still over 3 minutes long so it’s more a track. Some people might be quite surprised, but we just love to show everybody what we are capable off in the studio, its a blend off different musical influences. The CD also includes some new unreleased tracks and remixes, like the remix we did for Marcel Woods’ “The Bottle”, a very catchy out of the box remix which makes this compilation more diverse. Alan Connor presents Sun Went Down released on Maelstrom
Alan Connor has had a pretty epic musical journey so far, therefore from a musical family, we got nothing else, but another artist, learning to sing and write songs ever since he was a youngster. Back in the days, starting with Darren Fox, they have formed the duo Equator, his very first approach into his music career, this being only the start of the show for Alan, enhancing the producing experience to make it big in the near future. Since then, Alan has released several successful tracks, such as “Time Is Tight” along Lonnie Gordon, or else “Here In My Heart” becoming a constant on the radio airwaves in the UK and also in the US. The track gains strength through this and it holds steady throughout his career, being the very first record that self-propelled him onto the right direction within the EDM spectrum. Read more
Gareth Emery presents Northern Lights released on Garuda
GARETH EMERY
NORTHERN LIGHTS
LABEL: GARUDA
RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2010
It is a rare occasion when one artist can represent the face of an entire genre, but that only makes it all the more special when it occurs. He may have seemingly come from nowhere to become not only one of the youngest dj’s to enter DJ Mag’s coveted top 10, but also one of the most in demand remixers. He may be one of hardest working dj’s touring around the worlds biggest and most impressive events such as Ultra Music Festival, Global Gathering, Nature One, Creamfields and Dance Valley. He may even be the welcome link connecting trance, techno and house…
Gareth Emery has his production sound locked, and while the popularity surrounding him has reached explosive proportions over the last year, the young Brit has been composing his debut full length album; “Northern Lights”. Read more
Interview with Markus Schulz Electric Zoo Special Feature
Just under one week away from the second annual Electric Zoo Festival on Randall’s Island Electronic Night Life bring’s you a special feature from Electric Zoo performer Markus Schulz.
Did you enjoy your Coldharbour Day Event?
Markus Schulz: Yes I really enjoyed it.. I don’t think the whole day could have gone any better really. With all the craziness that goes on every year I think it’s really great to have the opportunity to really focus on the label, spotlight it some, and maybe while we’re doing it take a little time to think about what direction it’s going in. It coincided near-perfectly with the 100th release and a fair few other happenings – it was a bit of a ‘planet alignment’ thing actually!

Interview with Moonbeam
1. You hail from Russian Federation – Nizhniy Novgorod to be exact – a place most dancers and clubbers frankly look carefully when it comes to EDM. With such a huge scene and artists such as Bobina, Vadim Zhukov, Tenthu, Vadim Soloviev, Paul Vinitski, just to name a few. How do You find Russian EDM spectrum from Your own point of view ?
Moonbeam: In Russia there are a lot of talented musicians which aren’t so popular around the world but they aren’t less talented. More and more Russian electronic musicians are being discovered in Europe and America during the last few years. It shows the development of Russian EDM in the world.
2. At what point did You decide an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) career was something You wanted to pursue in life ? Read more
Interview with ATB
1. You have released Your latest installment “Sunset Beach DJ Session” on Napith Music. What ‘behind the scene’ information can You reveal about it ?
ATB: “Sunset Beach DJ Session” it is the first time that I would like to give the listener an insight into the music they can expect at a beach party with me, which of course is a little different than one of my club gigs. So the task of selecting the tracks and mixing these two sets was new for me and a very interesting challenge. I hope the people like the result and will be able to feel my intentions of catching and recreating the feeling of the sun, the ocean and the sand.
2. Do You have any long term projects with this venture and if so, what’s next on Napith Music for You ? Read more
