Interview with Maarten de Jong
1. Tell me a bit about Your life growing up and how You got into EDM ?
Maarten de Jong: Well first of all, I was born in Papendrecht near Rotterdam and moved to Eindhoven at the age of 10. My brother was listening to “Turn up the bass” and other dance CDs, and I got into them as well. At that time everybody was listening to hardcore and I was listening to house and some of the first trance tracks, I felt in love with Trance and Techno. After that I found my first tracker program called “Fast Tracker” and started producing my own tracks. At the age of 14 I started playing in a local bar which gave me a chance to develop my DJ skills! I actually ended up in the studio at the age of 17 producing in a studio at a record company. Nowadays I work with Logic Studio but I still look back to the days of fast tracker and the whole community behind it!!
2. Tell me about Your experiences so far within the European EDM scene.
Maarten de Jong: I like the EDM scene a lot!!! I think the biggest problem in the scene is the drugs, some people can’t party anymore without using some XTC or something else. Read more
Interview with Robert Gitelman
1. You worked with a lot of artists so far. Who was the most fun to work with ?
Robert Gitelman: All the artists I have been working with so far were all professionals and knew how to the job right. I had fun working with any one and one of them so I cant tell you there was someone specific I had more fun working with him. With all of them I had the same goal of creating great music and the same ideas about how that music will sound.
2. Another thing that people are curious about is the “Fluidum”. What’s going on with this tune right now ?
Robert Gitelman: “Fluidum” was officially released on January 26th this year. Since then this track got multiple support from every dj, every radio station and almost every trance program around the world. And the most important is to get that support from the crowd who just love this track, and for that I can only thanks to everyone who listen, like and support my music. Read more
Interview with Jan Oostdyk
1. What inspired you to become a dj ?
Jan Oostdyk: First of all I would like to thank you and TranceSound.net for inviting me to do this interview, and off course thanks to everyone reading it!
When I was about seven years old, a classmate of mine had piano lessons. I thought it was very cool and wanted to do the same thing. When I told my parents they bought me a “traporgel” to try out. A “traporgel” is Dutch for an air driven organ. After while I proved I could stick to it and it wasn’t a phase I was going through, so my parents decided to buy me a piano which I practiced for about twelve and a half years.
In these twelve and a half years I followed several computer courses because of a deal I had with my parents; if I would follow that course and pass the exam, I would get my own pc! So I followed the course, passed the exam, got that pc and guess what kind of program was installed first? Off course, a music program to make music. After that I bought myself a set of turntables and a bunch of records and that’s about it. Read more
Alex M.O.R.P.H. feat. Ana Criado presents Sunset Boulevard
Alex M.O.R.P.H. plays an integral part in one of dance music’s biggest legacies. A top Dj, Producer and Remixer, Alex is also a member (along with Paul van Dyk, the owner) of the legendary Vandit crew. Those who are familiar with the Electronic Music scene can attest to the fact that EDM would not be the same without they’re influence. VANDIT is one of the most prestigious and most reputable world-wide.
After he released his debut artist album PURPLE AUDIO (June 2009), and other TNTs (top notch tracks) such as “Wanna Be” along Michael, and also “Photograph” (January 2009), Alex and Vandit Records strike again with another hit, called “Sunset Boulevard” along pure-bliss vocalist, singer and song writer Ana Criado. The single was first released secretly by Alex himself at the annual Trance Energy in The Netherlands in 2009 and has since become a fan favourite and was added in heavy rotation at all major radio shows out there.
